Chandigarh is close enough to the Garhwal hills that you need no train or flight at all. The car collects you in the tricity, and by evening you are on the banks of the Ganga, ready for Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath.
Pilgrims from Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula are in a lucky position. Haridwar is only about 200 km away, roughly five to six hours through Yamunanagar, Saharanpur and Roorkee, so the Teen Dham Yatra can start with a car at your door instead of a railway booking. Families from Punjab and Haryana towns such as Ambala, Ludhiana and Jalandhar often join the same way.
Once you reach Haridwar, the plan follows our standard route to Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. On the last day the driver brings you down from Rudraprayag all the way home. Elders and children travel in the same vehicle throughout, with luggage in the boot rather than on a train rack.
Why add a night in Haridwar instead of driving straight into the hills? Chandigarh to Uttarkashi in one go would mean twelve hours or more in the car before the first darshan. Breaking the journey at Haridwar keeps every day within a safe driving window, gives elders an evening by the Ganga and lets the vehicle leave for the mountains at first light, when the hill roads are quietest.

Teen Dham from Chandigarh: FAQ
How far is Chandigarh from Haridwar?
About 200 km by road, usually five to six hours depending on traffic around Saharanpur and Roorkee.
What is the Teen Dham price from Chandigarh?
With road pick-up, from about ₹19,500 per person on budget hotels for four people, 8 nights and 9 days. Joining at Haridwar costs from ₹17,500 for 7 nights. These are 2027 estimates.
Do you pick up from Mohali, Zirakpur and Panchkula?
Yes, anywhere in the tricity. Towns further away such as Ludhiana or Ambala can also be arranged; the quote adjusts for distance.
Can we drive our own car?
Many hill roads need experience. We recommend our hill driver, but if you prefer your own car we can arrange hotels only. Call to discuss.
Can we add Hemkund Sahib?
Yes. Hemkund Sahib is reached from Govindghat near Badrinath and needs about two extra days. See Hemkund Sahib helicopter price.
Which is better, the Haridwar start or road pick-up?
Road pick-up is easier with elders and luggage. The Haridwar start is cheaper and one day shorter if you are happy to travel there yourself.
Is it safe to drive back to Chandigarh in one day from Rudraprayag?
Yes, with an early start. It is a long day of about 365 km, mostly on the plains after Rishikesh. Our drivers know the route well, and you can add a night in Haridwar if you prefer to break it.
