An overnight train or a short flight takes you from Ahmedabad to Delhi; from there our car and driver handle every kilometre to Kedarnath, Badrinath and back.
Every summer, families from Maninagar, Satellite, Naranpura and the old city set out for the Himalaya, and Kedarnath and Badrinath are high on most lists. The challenge is distance: the shrines are roughly 1,400 km from Ahmedabad, and the last 400 km are mountain roads. The simplest way to break that up is to reach Delhi by rail or air and start a proper road tour from there.
Our package is the land part of that journey, 6 nights and 7 days from Delhi and back. You book your own train or flight, which keeps you free to use railway concessions, airline offers or frequent-flyer points. We meet you at the station or airport, and from that moment the car, the hotels and the route are our job. Families who want Gangotri and Yamunotri too can compare the Char Dham from Ahmedabad.

Skipping the Delhi–Haridwar drive
Most Ahmedabad pilgrims take an evening train that reaches Delhi the next morning, and we start the drive to Haridwar straight from the station. Book on IRCTC as soon as the reservation window opens, because May–June yatra trains fill quickly. Our Char Dham by train guide has more planning advice.
Flying in? If you land in Dehradun, switch to the Haridwar Do Dham package, which is one night shorter and starts at ₹13,500. See Char Dham by air for airport tips.

Your seven days in the mountains
Day 1
Delhi arrival, drive to Haridwar
230 km6–7 hoursNight: Haridwar
Your train pulls into Delhi in the morning and our driver is waiting with a name card. After a tea break on the highway you reach Haridwar by late afternoon. The Ganga aarti at Har Ki Pauri is the first spiritual moment of the trip, and many families buy their diya there to float on the river.
Day 2
Into the hills: Haridwar to Guptkashi
200 km7–8 hoursNight: Guptkashi
We leave early for Rishikesh and the valley of the Ganga. Devprayag is a natural stop to see the two rivers meet, and Rudraprayag is a good place for lunch. The final stretch climbs the Mandakini valley to Guptkashi, about 1,300 m above sea level.
Day 3
Kedarnath ascent
30 km + 16 km trekFull dayNight: Kedarnath
Sonprayag is the registration check-point, followed by the shared jeep to Gaurikund. The 16 km path rises steadily to 3,583 m; take it slowly, drink water and rest often. Pony, palki or pithoo can be hired at fixed rates, and IRCTC shuttle passengers fly in from Phata, Sersi or Guptkashi.

Day 4
Darshan of Kedarnath, back to Guptkashi
16 km + 30 kmFull dayNight: Guptkashi
Stand in the morning queue for darshan of the Jyotirlinga, then visit Bhairavnath and the Samadhi of Adi Shankaracharya. Walk or ride down to Gaurikund. The car brings you back to Guptkashi for a warm meal and a good sleep.
Day 5
Guptkashi to Badrinath
200 km8–9 hoursNight: Badrinath
This long but beautiful drive crosses into the Alaknanda valley via Ukhimath and Chopta. After Chamoli and Joshimath, the road follows the river up to Badrinath. If you arrive in good time, bathe in the Tapt Kund before the evening aarti.
Day 6
Badrinath, Mana and the drive down
About 195 km7–8 hoursNight: Srinagar Garhwal
Morning darshan of Badri Narayan, then a short drive to Mana village with its caves and stone bridge. Families wishing to perform rites for ancestors can do so at Brahma Kapal. The afternoon drive brings you to Srinagar Garhwal.
Day 7
Return to Delhi
About 360 km10–11 hoursNight: Tour ends
An early start for the long run back via Rishikesh and Haridwar. We drop you at the Delhi station or airport in the evening. Book your return train for night departure or the next day so that a road delay does not cost you the ticket.

Advice for Gujarati pilgrims
Food
The hotels on this route are vegetarian-friendly, and Kedarnath and Badrinath are strictly vegetarian towns. Jain food without onion and garlic can be requested at most hotels, but variety is limited in the hills, so many families carry thepla, khakhra and dry snacks from home.
Climate
Coming from the dry heat of Ahmedabad, the cold at 3,000 m can be a surprise. Pack thermals, a jacket, gloves and a cap even in June. Our packing list helps.
When to travel
Summer vacations make May and June the busiest months for Ahmedabad families, so book hotels and trains early. If you are thinking of the Diwali holidays instead, remember that Kedarnath closes on Bhai Dooj and Badrinath a little later in November; plan the darshan days before Diwali rather than after. Late September and early October bring clear skies and shorter queues. Check the opening and closing dates before you buy tickets.
Paperwork
Complete the free Char Dham registration for every traveller and keep Aadhaar handy. Helicopter seats for Kedarnath are sold only on IRCTC HeliYatra; read our helicopter ticket guide and avoid unofficial sellers.

Do Dham Yatra from Ahmedabad: FAQ
Does the price include the train from Ahmedabad?
No. The ₹15,500 estimate is for the 6N/7D land tour from Delhi. You book your own train or flight, which lets you choose the class, date and fare that suit you.
Can we take a train from Ahmedabad that reaches Haridwar itself?
Some long-distance services run towards Haridwar and Dehradun; check IRCTC for current schedules. If you arrive in Haridwar directly, take the Haridwar package instead.
How many days do we need in total from Ahmedabad?
About nine days door to door: one night on the train each way plus seven days on the tour. With flights it can be done in seven or eight days.
Can we get Jain food?
Most hotels can prepare food without onion and garlic on request. Choices are simpler than in Gujarat, so carry some snacks of your own.
Is this trip suitable for a group of twelve?
Yes. A Tempo Traveller seats twelve comfortably; we quote it separately and it usually reduces the per-person price.
