Badrinath Yatra Package from Chandigarh 2027

No train, no flight: Badrinath straight from the Tricity

Pilgrims from Mumbai or Chennai spend a day or two just reaching the foothills. From Chandigarh, Haridwar is only about 200 km away, roughly a five to six hour drive via Yamunanagar and Saharanpur or through the Paonta Sahib and Dehradun side. That makes road pickup from home the obvious choice: the same car and driver collect you in Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula or Zirakpur, take you to Badrinath and bring you home again.

The plan below takes four nights and five days, with stays at Haridwar, Joshimath, Badrinath and Srinagar (Garhwal). The temple of Lord Vishnu is reached by road, so there is no trek. All figures are 2027 estimates; the 2026 season ends in mid-November and the 2027 opening date is announced on Basant Panchami.

Estimated 2027 cost from Chandigarh

Chandigarh to Haridwar is a similar distance to Delhi to Haridwar, so the Chandigarh plan is priced close to our Delhi package. Rates are per person for four travellers sharing a vehicle and twin or triple rooms.

Want two dhams instead of one? The Do Dham package from Chandigarh adds Kedarnath, and the Char Dham package from Chandigarh covers all four shrines with home pickup.

Which road from Chandigarh to the hills?

There are two sensible ways from the Tricity to Haridwar, and your driver picks between them based on traffic and roadworks on the day. Both join the main Badrinath highway at Rishikesh, so the mountain section is the same whichever you take.

RouteViaApprox. distanceGood for
Plains routeAmbala, Yamunanagar, Saharanpur, RoorkeeAbout 200 km to HaridwarFastest on most days; good dhabas en route
Doon valley routePanchkula, Nahan, Paonta Sahib, DehradunAbout 230 km to RishikeshScenic; easy to add a Paonta Sahib gurdwara stop

Coming home, the driver usually uses whichever road is clearer that afternoon. If you would like to break the return journey, a night in Rishikesh or Dehradun can be added to the plan at a small extra cost.

What darshan at Badrinath is like

The temple opens early in the morning and closes for a few hours in the afternoon before the evening aarti. Before darshan most pilgrims bathe at the Tapt Kund, a hot spring just below the temple steps. Queues are longest from mid-May to mid-June; in September and October you may walk in within minutes. Special pujas can be booked through the temple committee, and we can guide you on the process, but they are not part of the package price.

About 330 km9–10 hoursNight: Tour ends

Start early and drive via Devprayag and Rishikesh to the plains. Lunch on the way near Haridwar or Dehradun. You are dropped at home in the Tricity by evening.

Combining Badrinath with Hemkund Sahib

Many families from Punjab and Chandigarh want to visit Hemkund Sahib, the high-altitude gurdwara on a glacial lake, on the same trip. The trailhead at Govindghat lies on the Badrinath road, so the two fit together naturally. You walk or ride from Govindghat area to Ghangaria, climb to Hemkund Sahib the next morning and return. A helicopter between Govindghat and Ghangaria costs about ₹4,500 one way, depending on weather.

Badrinath from Chandigarh: FAQ

How far is Badrinath from Chandigarh?

About 520 km by road: roughly 200 km to Haridwar and about 320 km more through the mountains. We break the drive with nights at Haridwar and Joshimath.

Do I need to take a train or bus to Haridwar?

No. Chandigarh is within easy road distance, so the car collects you at home and returns you there.

What is the price from Chandigarh?

About ₹10,500 per person on budget hotels for four people sharing a vehicle, rising to about ₹14,500 for deluxe and ₹22,500 for luxury. These are 2027 estimates; the exact figure depends on your pickup point and dates.

Can we include Hemkund Sahib?

Yes. Govindghat is on the Badrinath road. Add two or three nights for the trek to Ghangaria and Hemkund Sahib, and check the gurdwara's opening date, which is usually later than Badrinath's.

Is there a trek at Badrinath?

No. The road reaches Badrinath town, and the temple is a short walk from the parking area.

Can you pick us up from Ambala or Ludhiana?

Yes. Pickup along the route or from nearby cities can be arranged; see the Ludhiana page for longer trips from Punjab.

Is a same-day helicopter possible?

A Badrinath helicopter charter from Dehradun can do the darshan in a day. You would drive about four hours from Chandigarh to Dehradun first.
