From sea level in Mumbai to two shrines above 3,000 m in the Garhwal Himalaya. Fly or ride the train to Delhi, and a private car with a hill driver takes over from the arrival gate.
Mumbai is roughly 1,400 km from Delhi and close to 1,700 km from the Yamunotri valley, so this yatra really has two parts: getting to north India, and the road journey into the mountains. We handle the second part. You choose how to reach Delhi (or Dehradun), and our driver meets you there with everything else arranged: hotels at Haridwar, Barkot and Uttarkashi, meals, permits and the yatra registration help.
Pilgrims from Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai often ask whether the hills will be too cold. In May and June, days at Barkot and Uttarkashi are pleasant, but mornings at Yamunotri (3,293 m) and Gangotri (3,100 m) can be close to freezing. In October it is colder still. Pack proper woollens, not just a light shawl; our packing list is a good checklist.
There is a happy accident of timing too: the Mumbai monsoon runs roughly June to September, which is also when Uttarakhand's roads are at their worst. Most Mumbaikars travel either in May, before the rains, or in late September and October, after them.

Flying to Delhi is the most common choice because of the number of daily flights and lower fares. Flying straight to Dehradun saves the 230 km Delhi–Haridwar drive at each end and lets you take the package from Haridwar instead. Our Char Dham by air and by train pages compare these routes in more detail.
Book your onward flight or train for the evening of the last tour day, or the next morning. Mountain roads can be slow, and a missed flight costs more than an extra night in Delhi.

Haridwar to Barkot
210 km7–8 hoursNight: Barkot
A full day in the hills. Climb via Dehradun to Mussoorie, the old hill station above the Doon valley, and descend past Kempty Falls into the Yamuna valley. Check into your Barkot hotel and rest; tomorrow is the big day.
Day 3
Yamunotri darshan
45 km drive + 6 km trek each wayFull dayNight: Barkot
Drive to Janki Chatti at first light. The 6 km trail climbs steadily beside the river; hire a pony or palki at the counter if the climb worries you. At the shrine, pilgrims cook rice in the Surya Kund and worship at the Divya Shila before darshan of Yamuna Maa. Descend and return to Barkot.

Does the price include flights from Mumbai?
No. The estimated land price from ₹14,500 per person starts and ends in Delhi. You book flights or trains, and we match pick-up to your arrival.
Should I fly to Delhi or Dehradun?
Delhi has far more flights and often cheaper fares. Dehradun saves about a day of driving because you join the Haridwar package directly.
Is the Yamunotri trek suitable for elderly parents?
The 6 km walk is steep in parts. Many elders take a pony or palki, booked at the official counter at Janki Chatti. Gangotri has road access to the temple.
Can you arrange Jain or Maharashtrian food?
Hotels on the route serve simple vegetarian meals. We can request no onion-garlic food where hotels can manage it, but the choice is limited in the mountains.
When is the best time for Mumbai pilgrims?
May, before the monsoon, or late September to October, after it. Both shrines close around Diwali.
Can I add Kedarnath to this trip?
Yes. A Teen Dham package from Mumbai adds Kedarnath and Badrinath to Gangotri, or ask us for Yamunotri + Gangotri + Kedarnath.
