Day by day: the flight plan from Sahastradhara

   Sahastradhara to Kharsali

   Around 40 minutes in the airNight: Kharsali

   You are collected from your Dehradun hotel and taken to Sahastradhara for check-in, which includes weighing passengers and bags. The flight follows the Yamuna valley north to Kharsali, the village where Goddess Yamuna spends the winter. After lunch, a car runs you to Janki Chatti, and you go up the 6 km path to Yamunotri on foot or by pony or palki for darshan, and many pilgrims cook a little rice in the hot water of Surya Kund to take home as prasad.

2. Day
   2

   Kharsali to Harsil and Gangotri

   Short flight, then about 25 km by roadNight: Harsil

   The morning hop crosses a high ridge into the Bhagirathi valley. From the Harsil helipad you drive up through deodar forest to Gangotri for darshan of Goddess Ganga and time at Bhagirath Shila. Back in Harsil, walk along the river past the apple orchards before dinner.

   Harsil to the Mandakini valley

   About 45 minutes in the airNight: Guptkashi

   This is the most scenic leg, crossing range after range towards the Kedarnath valley. You land near Guptkashi or Phata and check into your hotel. The rest of the day is for rest, which helps your body adjust before the climb to 3,583 m the next morning.

   Kedarnath and back

   A few minutes each wayNight: Guptkashi

   A short morning flight lifts you up the narrowing Mandakini gorge to the Kedarnath helipad. Walk to the temple for darshan of the Jyotirlinga, then visit the samadhi of Adi Shankaracharya behind it. You fly back down to Guptkashi before the afternoon cloud and spend the evening at leisure.

5. Day
   5

   Guptkashi to Badrinath

   About 30 minutes in the airNight: Badrinath

   Fly east over the forests above Chopta to the Alaknanda valley and land at Badrinath. Take a bath in the Tapt Kund and join the evening aarti at the temple of Badri Narayan. Mana village, 3 km away, is worth an hour if the weather is kind.

   Badrinath to Dehradun

   About 1 hour in the airNight: Tour ends

   An early darshan is followed by the long flight south over the Garhwal ranges to Sahastradhara. You are in Dehradun by late morning, in time for an afternoon flight home from Jolly Grant or a drive to Mussoorie, Rishikesh or Delhi.
