What will Kedarnath and Badrinath really cost a Hyderabad family, and how many days should you ask for? This page answers both, then lays out the trip day by day.
Telugu-speaking pilgrims have a long tradition of Himalayan yatras, and Kedarnath and Badrinath together form the trip most families from Hyderabad and Secunderabad ask us about. The city is roughly 1,550 km from Delhi, a little over two hours by air. Once you land, everything else is a road journey through the Garhwal hills.
Our Do Dham land package runs for 6 nights and 7 days from Delhi. A private car with an experienced hill driver stays with you throughout, hotels are pre-booked at Haridwar, Guptkashi, Kedarnath, Badrinath and Srinagar Garhwal, and breakfast and dinner are included. Below you will find a realistic budget for the whole trip, not only our part of it.

Flying or taking the train
Flights between Hyderabad and Delhi are frequent and take about two hours fifteen minutes. If you can find a reasonable fare to Dehradun, the shorter Haridwar package applies and saves a day of driving.
Trains take roughly a day and a night to Delhi. They suit larger families travelling on a budget, as long as the extra days are available. Read the Char Dham by train guide for booking advice.
Day-wise plan
Day 1
Delhi to Haridwar
230 km6–7 hoursNight: Haridwar
Your driver collects you at Delhi airport or the station. After lunch on the highway, you arrive in Haridwar with time for the river. The Ganga aarti at Har Ki Pauri, with bells, chanting and floating lamps, is the traditional start of a Himalayan yatra.
Day 2
Haridwar to Guptkashi
200 km7–8 hoursNight: Guptkashi
The road leaves the plains at Rishikesh and climbs along the Ganga. Devprayag's sangam and Rudraprayag's confluence of the Alaknanda and Mandakini are the main halts. Guptkashi, your base for Kedarnath, is reached by evening.
Day 3
Ascent to Kedarnath
30 km + 16 kmFull dayNight: Kedarnath
Start early for Sonprayag and the jeep to Gaurikund. Walk, ride a pony or take a palki up the 16 km trail; helicopter passengers with IRCTC tickets fly from their helipad. The temple sits at 3,583 m in a bowl of snow peaks. Overnight nearby.

Day 4
Darshan, descent to Guptkashi
16 km + 30 kmFull dayNight: Guptkashi
Pre-dawn darshan of the Jyotirlinga, then Bhairavnath temple and the Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi. Return to Gaurikund and Sonprayag. The car brings you back to Guptkashi for dinner and rest.
Day 5
Guptkashi to Badrinath
200 km8–9 hoursNight: Badrinath
A scenic crossing via Ukhimath and Chopta takes you into the Alaknanda valley. After Chamoli and Joshimath the road climbs to Badrinath. Bathe in the Tapt Kund and attend the evening aarti.
Day 6
Badrinath, Mana, Srinagar
About 195 km7–8 hoursNight: Srinagar Garhwal
Morning darshan of Lord Badri Narayan, followed by Mana village and its caves. Families wishing to perform pind daan can do so at Brahma Kapal. Drive down to Srinagar Garhwal by evening.

Day 7
Back to Delhi
About 360 km10–11 hoursNight: Tour ends
A full day's drive back through Rishikesh and Haridwar to Delhi. We drop you at the airport, station or a hotel. Book the flight to Hyderabad for late night or the next morning.
Choosing your travel month
The temples open in late April or early May and close in November; the 2027 dates are announced in early spring and published on our opening dates page. For Hyderabad families, the summer holidays in May and early June are the obvious choice, but they coincide with the heaviest crowds and the highest hotel rates. If you can travel between mid-September and mid-October, you get washed-clean skies after the monsoon, shorter darshan queues and easier hotel availability, with Dasara holidays sometimes falling in the same window.
Avoid July and August. Heavy rain triggers landslides on the hill roads, and the Kedarnath trail can be slippery and dangerous. Late October is beautiful but cold, and Kedarnath closes on Bhai Dooj, so time Diwali trips carefully. Our month-by-month best time to visit guide goes into more detail.

Hyderabad Do Dham: FAQ
What is the total cost of Kedarnath and Badrinath from Hyderabad?
Add the land package (from about ₹15,500 per person), your return flights or train, and on-the-spot costs such as a pony or helicopter. A family of four on budget hotels should plan for the package plus travel plus a few thousand rupees each for extras.
How many days should a Hyderabad family set aside for the Do Dham?
Eight to nine days with flights: seven days on tour plus travel days. By train, allow about eleven days.
Can the trip start from Dehradun instead of Delhi?
Yes. If you fly to Dehradun, the 5N/6D plan starting at ₹13,500 applies.
Is Kedarnath possible for people with knee problems?
Ponies, palkis and pithoos carry pilgrims who cannot walk, and IRCTC shuttle helicopters cut out the trail entirely. Speak to your doctor first.
Do you include Teen Dham or Char Dham from Hyderabad?
