Rishikesh start
- Airport pickup at Jolly Grant
- Ganga aarti in Rishikesh
- Joshimath and Badrinath stays
From the Deccan plateau to the source of the Alaknanda. Flying from Bengaluru, the hill section of your Badrinath yatra can begin within hours of landing at Dehradun.
For many families in Bengaluru, Badrinath carries a special link to the south. Adi Shankaracharya, who founded the Sringeri math in Karnataka, also founded the Jyotirmath at Joshimath on the road to Badrinath, and is credited with restoring worship at the temple itself. To this day the chief priest of Badrinath, the Rawal, traditionally comes from a Namboodiri family of Kerala. A Badrinath yatra from Bengaluru therefore connects one end of the Shankara tradition to the other.
The practical side is simpler than it sounds. Bengaluru is more than 2,000 km from Uttarakhand, so almost everyone flies. Our car meets you at Jolly Grant airport, Dehradun, or at Delhi airport, and handles everything from there. Badrinath has a road right up to the town, so no trek is needed. Prices here are 2027 estimates; the 2026 season closes in mid-November.
| Option | Flight time | Road from airport | Package to choose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fly to Dehradun (often with a connection) | Varies by connection | About 20 km to Rishikesh, 35 km to Haridwar | Rishikesh/Haridwar plan, from ₹8,500 |
| Fly to Delhi (many direct flights) | About 2.5–3 hours | 230 km to Haridwar | Delhi plan, 4N/5D, from ₹10,500 |
| Train to Delhi | About 33–40 hours | 230 km to Haridwar | Delhi plan; needs much more time |
Flying into Dehradun saves about a full day of driving compared with Delhi. Delhi has far more direct flights, though, so it can be cheaper and easier to book. Our Char Dham by air guide compares both airports, and the Badrinath package from Delhi shows the Delhi-based plan in full.
Prices are for the road tour only, per person, with four travellers sharing one vehicle and twin or triple rooms. Flights are booked separately.
| Road tour | Duration | Budget | Deluxe | Luxury |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Badrinath from Haridwar / Rishikesh | 3N / 4D | ₹8,500 | ₹12,000 | ₹18,500 |
| Badrinath from Delhi | 4N / 5D | ₹10,500 | ₹14,500 | ₹22,500 |
2027 estimates. If you land at Dehradun in the afternoon, an arrival night in Rishikesh is added at hotel cost. The final quote depends on dates, hotels and group size.
Fly from Kempegowda airport to Dehradun. Your driver waits at arrivals and takes you to Rishikesh, a short drive through forest. If you land in time, attend the evening aarti at Triveni Ghat on the Ganga. Rest well, as tomorrow is a long mountain day.
Leave at first light and follow the Ganga upstream to Devprayag, where it is born from two rivers. Continue along the Alaknanda through Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag and Nandprayag. Reach Joshimath, home of Shankaracharya's Jyotirmath, in the evening.
Drive past Vishnuprayag to Badrinath and bathe in the Tapt Kund. Take darshan of Badri Narayan, then spend the afternoon in Mana village at Vyas Gufa, Ganesh Gufa and Bhim Pul. Return to the temple for the evening aarti.
Take an early second darshan when the queue is shortest. Offer pind daan at Brahma Kapal if your family wishes. Drive down the valley to Rudraprayag, where the Mandakini from Kedarnath joins the Alaknanda.
Drive via Devprayag and Rishikesh to Jolly Grant airport for an afternoon or evening flight to Bengaluru. If your flight is the next morning, we can book a night in Rishikesh or Haridwar.
If the Adi Shankaracharya connection is part of why you are travelling, ask your driver to slow down at these places. None of them adds more than an hour to the plan, and all are on or just off the route.
| Place | Why it matters | When you pass |
|---|---|---|
| Jyotirmath (Joshimath) | One of the four maths founded by Adi Shankaracharya; the Kalpavriksha tree where he is said to have meditated | Evening of Day 2 or morning of Day 3 |
| Narsingh temple, Joshimath | Closely linked with Badrinath's winter worship | Day 2 evening |
| Badrinath temple | Worship here is said to have been restored by Shankaracharya, who recovered the image from Narad Kund | Day 3 |
| Pandukeshwar | Winter seat of Badrinath's worship, on the road below the town | Day 3 and Day 4 |
Kedarnath, too, has an Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi just behind the temple. Families who want to see both should look at the Kedarnath package from Bengaluru or the combined Do Dham plan.
Bengaluru's mild climate is pleasant, but it does little to prepare you for 3,133 m. Even in June, Badrinath mornings can be close to freezing, and the first night at altitude may bring a light headache. Spend your first evening resting, drink plenty of water, and avoid hurrying on arrival.
Rooms at Badrinath cost roughly ₹2,000–8,000 per room per night depending on category; see Badrinath hotel booking.

Fly to Dehradun (Jolly Grant) or Delhi, then travel by road. Dehradun is closer to the mountains; Delhi has more direct flights.
About five days if you fly to Dehradun, or six if you fly to Delhi, including flights on the first and last days.
The road tour starts at about ₹8,500 per person from Haridwar or Rishikesh, or ₹10,500 from Delhi, for four travellers on budget hotels. Flights and any arrival night are extra. These are 2027 estimates.
There is no trek, but the altitude and cold are new for many. Rest on arrival, stay warm and drink plenty of water, and you should be fine.
Yes. The Do Dham package from Bengaluru covers both shrines; Kedarnath adds a 16 km trek or an IRCTC shuttle flight.
Yes, a same-day Badrinath helicopter charter is possible from Dehradun, weather permitting.
Rarely in the mountains. Hotels serve North Indian vegetarian meals, so many families carry podi, pickles or ready mixes.
