From Srirangam, first of the 108 Divya Desams, to Badrinath, Devprayag and Jyotirmath in the Himalaya. A complete plan for Trichy pilgrims, including Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri.
For Sri Vaishnava families in Tiruchirappalli, the Char Dham Yatra holds a meaning beyond the four shrines. Badrinath, sung by the Alvars as Thiru Vadari Ashramam, is counted among the 108 Divya Desams, as are Devprayag (Thirukandam) and Jyotirmath (Thiruppiridi), both of which lie on the road to Badrinath. A pilgrim who begins at Srirangam on the Kaveri can therefore take darshan at three northern Divya Desams in one journey, along with Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri.
The distance is long: about 2,400 km by rail to Delhi. Most Trichy travellers fly, connecting through Chennai or Bengaluru, and join our Char Dham package from Delhi. The itinerary below is our standard route with time set aside at Devprayag and Jyotirmath. If you would like longer at either, we can add a night; tell us when you enquire.

Getting from Tiruchirappalli to Delhi
By air. Tiruchirappalli airport has domestic connections to Chennai, Bengaluru and other hubs, from where flights to Delhi are frequent. Some travellers drive to Chennai or Madurai for a better choice. Allow a full day for the journey and plan a night in Delhi before Day 1.
By train. Trains from Tiruchirappalli Junction to Delhi take about a day and a half or more, and some routes need a change at Chennai. This suits families with time and elders who prefer a berth, but adds several days to the round trip.
Via Dehradun. With a connection, you can fly to Jolly Grant, Dehradun and join the shorter Haridwar tour. Our Char Dham by air page explains how.
