Aryan Aviation is a private helicopter company whose name many pilgrims come across when reading about Kedarnath flights. Like the other operators on this route, it flies under the shuttle system that the Uttarakhand government runs for the Kedarnath valley. Under that system, a fixed number of operators are allotted helipads and sectors for each season, fares are fixed for each sector, and all seats are sold to the public through a single channel: the IRCTC HeliYatra portal.

This matters for anyone searching by operator name. Which companies fly from Phata, Sersi or Guptkashi, and how many sorties each gets, is decided season by season. An operator that flew one helipad last year may fly another this year, or may not be on the route at all. Rather than relying on an old list, check the operators shown against each helipad on the portal when booking opens for 2027. Why you choose a helipad, not an operator

On the HeliYatra portal the choice you make is the departure helipad, the date and the sector. The operator flying that helipad is then shown with the available slots. In other words, if you want to fly with a particular company, you first need to know which helipad it has been allotted for the season. Most pilgrims find it simpler to pick the helipad that suits their road plan and accept whichever operator flies it.

Booking a seat step by step

1. Complete the free yatra registration for every passenger on registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in or the Tourist Care Uttarakhand app.
2. Create your IRCTC HeliYatra account on heliyatra.irctc.co.in before the booking window and test the login.
3. Note the booking window announced on the portal for your travel period. Seats for popular dates go quickly.
4. Select helipad, date and sector. If the operator matters to you, compare which one is shown for each helipad.
5. Enter each passenger's registration number and details exactly as on their photo ID.
6. Pay online and download the ticket, which shows the operator, helipad, date and reporting time.
7. Send the ticket to your tour planner so the night before is spent close to the helipad.

Four common mix-ups when searching by operator name

Pilgrims who search for a specific company often run into the same misunderstandings. Clearing them up early saves time on booking day.

• "The operator's website will sell me a seat." For the Kedarnath shuttle, it will not. Operator offices handle flying; IRCTC handles selling. A site that takes payment for shuttle seats outside the portal should be treated with suspicion.

• "Last year's helipad will be the same." Allotments change. Always check the current season on the portal.
