Do Dham Yatra from Bhopal 2027

From Mahakal country to the Himalayan Jyotirlinga

Many Bhopal families have taken darshan at Ujjain and Omkareshwar more than once. Kedarnath is different: it sits at 3,583 m at the head of the Mandakini valley, and reaching it takes a mountain drive and a 16 km walk or a helicopter hop. Badrinath, Lord Vishnu's shrine on the Alaknanda, lies one valley across, which makes the pair a natural week-long yatra.

Bhopal has one big advantage over cities further south: Delhi is only about 700 km away by rail. An evening train reaches Delhi early the next morning, and our car can start for Haridwar straight from the platform. That means our 6-night, 7-day tour fits into a nine-day absence from home, without flights. Families who want more shrines can look at the Teen Dham from Bhopal or Char Dham from Bhopal.

Planning the train journey

  • Outbound: take an evening or night train from Bhopal Junction or Rani Kamlapati so you reach Delhi between 5 and 9 am. Your driver meets you at the station exit.
  • Return: day 7 ends in Delhi in the evening. A late-night train is possible, but a train the next morning is safer if the hill roads are slow.
  • Booking: May–June trains are heavily booked; reserve as soon as the window opens.
  • Flights: Bhopal–Delhi flights take about 1 h 20 min if you prefer to fly.

Do Dham Yatra from Bhopal: FAQ

How many Jyotirlingas does this trip cover?

One: Kedarnath. The second shrine, Badrinath, is a Vishnu temple and one of India's four great dhams. Together they form the classic Do Dham Yatra.

Which station in Delhi should we arrive at?

Any of them. Our driver meets you at New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin or another station; Nizamuddin is convenient for many trains from Bhopal.

Can we leave Bhopal on a Friday night and be back by the following weekend?

Yes. An overnight train on Friday, the 7-day tour from Saturday to Friday, and a train home that night or Saturday morning fits within about nine days.

Is the package cheaper if we drive our own car from Bhopal?

Self-driving is possible but tiring and risky on mountain roads. We recommend a local hill driver from Delhi or Haridwar. Vehicle-only hire is described on Do Dham by car.

Can we visit Omkareshwar in Uttarakhand?

Yes, in a sense: the Omkareshwar temple at Ukhimath is the winter seat of Kedarnath's deity, and the road to Badrinath passes through Ukhimath on day 5.

What is the best month to travel from Bhopal?

May and June suit school holidays but are crowded and the plains are very hot on day 1 and day 7. Mid-September to October is cooler, clearer and calmer. Avoid the July–August monsoon.
