From the Subarnarekha to the Bhagirathi is a long way, but it divides neatly into two legs: one long journey to Delhi, and twelve days in the mountains with a driver who knows every bend.
Pilgrims from Jamshedpur, Adityapur and the rest of Kolhan usually ask two questions first: how do we get there, and how much leave do we need? The honest answer is that the yatra itself takes 12 days from Delhi, and you should add about a day and a half at each end for the journey from Tatanagar. A total of 15 days covers it with a little breathing space.
Because the distance is large, we recommend you treat Delhi as your gateway. Our Char Dham Yatra package from Delhi collects you at the station or airport and returns you there. Groups who would rather end the train journey in Haridwar can take our Haridwar package, which is two days shorter.

Train or flight: reaching Delhi from Jamshedpur
By train from Tatanagar
Tatanagar Junction has direct trains to Delhi, and many more options open up if you are willing to change at Howrah. Most of these take a full day and a night. Book in 3AC or 2AC so elders can rest properly, and reserve as soon as your dates are confirmed, because summer trains north fill fast. The Char Dham by train guide explains how to plan arrival and departure days.
By air via Ranchi or Kolkata
Jamshedpur's own air links are limited, so most travellers drive to Ranchi, about 130 km away, or take a train to Kolkata and fly to Delhi from there. It is also possible to fly to Dehradun with a connection and join the yatra at Jolly Grant. Our Char Dham by air page compares the options.

If 15 days is too long
Not everyone can take two weeks off. Three shorter choices work well from Jamshedpur:
Do Dham Yatra – Kedarnath and Badrinath, 6N/7D from Delhi, from about ₹15,500.
Teen Dham Yatra – Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath, 8N/9D from Delhi, from about ₹19,500.
Char Dham by helicopter – all four dhams in 5N/6D from Dehradun, from about ₹2,15,000 per person.

About 15 days: roughly one and a half days of train travel each way, plus the 12-day tour from Delhi.
Is the train fare included?
No. The price of about ₹24,500 per person covers the land tour from Delhi. Train or flight tickets from Jamshedpur are booked separately.
Should we fly from Ranchi or take the train?
Flying saves almost a day each way and suits elders. The train is cheaper and handles luggage better. Many groups take the train up and fly back.
Can the tour start in Haridwar instead?
Yes. If you arrive in Haridwar, the 9N/10D package from about ₹21,500 per person applies.
When should Jamshedpur families plan the trip?
May–June suits school holidays. Mid-September to October brings clear weather and fewer crowds, and fits around Durga Puja if you travel early or late. Avoid July and August.
How do we get Kedarnath helicopter tickets?
Shuttle tickets are sold only on IRCTC HeliYatra after yatra registration. Read our IRCTC helicopter booking guide and beware of fake websites.
Can you arrange a group from our housing society?
Yes. Groups of 10–12 travel in a Tempo Traveller, and larger groups in a bus. Share the numbers and we will quote.
