Badrinath Yatra Package from Gujarat 2027

From the western dham to the northern dham

Adi Shankaracharya is credited with linking four great shrines at the four corners of India: Dwarka in the west, Puri in the east, Rameswaram in the south and Badrinath in the north. For a family from Saurashtra or Kutch that has visited Dwarkadhish many times, Badrinath often becomes the next goal. Both temples honour Lord Vishnu, one as Krishna, king of Dwarka, and the other as Badri Narayan, the ascetic seated in meditation.

The two are about as far apart as two shrines in India can be, but the Himalayan part of the journey is shorter than it looks. Once you reach Delhi or Haridwar, Badrinath is a four or five day road trip with no trek at all. This page plans for the 2027 season; the 2026 temple closes in mid-November and the new opening date is announced each Basant Panchami.

Travelling as a samaj or mandal group

Many Gujarat pilgrims travel with their community, society or temple mandal. For ten to seventeen people we use Tempo Travellers, and for larger groups we can arrange more than one vehicle or a bus on request. A group leader receives one consolidated quote and a single point of contact. See our Tempo Traveller page and the bus tour for how group trips work.

    Return to Delhi

About 360 km10–11 hoursNight: Tour ends

What to see and do at Badrinath

Your night at Badrinath leaves time for more than the main darshan. Most of these places lie within walking distance of the temple or a few minutes by car, and none needs a trek.

  • Tapt Kund: a natural hot spring below the temple where pilgrims bathe before darshan, welcome on a cold morning.
  • Brahma Kapal: a flat rock on the Alaknanda where families perform shraddh and pind daan for their ancestors.
  • Narad Kund and Neelkanth views: the snow peak of Neelkanth glows at sunrise directly behind the town.
  • Mana village: 3 km away, with Vyas Gufa, Ganesh Gufa, Bhim Pul and the roaring Saraswati river.
  • Mata Murti temple: a small shrine a short drive out of town, dedicated to the mother of Nar and Narayan.

Advice for travellers from Gujarat

  • Book trains early. Gujarat's summer holidays overlap with the busiest yatra weeks.
  • Register every traveller. The free registration at registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in is checked on the road; see Char Dham registration.
  • Carry home snacks. Hill food is North Indian vegetarian; Gujarati and Jain choices are limited.
  • Dress for cold. Bring sweaters, shawls and caps even in May; our packing list helps.
  • Avoid the monsoon. July and August bring landslides; the best time guide explains the alternatives.
  • Read the etiquette. Our do's and don'ts covers temple rules and plastic bans.

Badrinath yatra from Gujarat: FAQ

Is there a direct route from Gujarat to Badrinath?

No train or flight goes to Badrinath itself. Pilgrims reach Delhi, Haridwar or Dehradun first, then travel about 300–550 km by road into the mountains.

What is the cost of a Badrinath trip from Gujarat?

The land package from Delhi starts at about ₹10,500 per person on budget hotels for four people. Add your train or flight fare to Delhi and back. These are 2027 estimates.

Can a group from our society travel together?

Yes. We arrange Tempo Travellers for up to seventeen people and multiple vehicles or a bus for larger groups, with one coordinator for the whole group.

Can we combine Dwarka and Badrinath in one trip?

They are at opposite ends of India, so most families do them as separate journeys. If you want to cover more of the north in one go, consider the Do Dham or Char Dham package from Gujarat.

How many days off work do we need?

About six to eight days in total, depending on whether you take trains or flights between Gujarat and Delhi.

Is Badrinath suitable for elderly parents?

Yes. The road reaches the town and the temple is a short walk away. Plan rest stops for the long drives and carry warm clothing for the cold nights.

When should we travel?

May to June or mid-September to October. The 2027 opening date is announced on Basant Panchami; see opening dates.
