From Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot or a small town in Saurashtra, the Kedarnath–Badrinath journey works the same way: reach Haridwar or Delhi, then let one vehicle carry your whole group into the hills.
Gujarat sends some of the largest pilgrim groups to Uttarakhand every season. Extended families, housing-society groups, mandals and samaj associations often book together, sometimes twenty or thirty people at once. The two shrines that feature on almost every itinerary are Kedarnath, the Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva, and Badrinath, one of the four great Vaishnava dhams of India.
Since no Gujarat city is within driving distance of the Himalaya, the journey has two halves. First, the group reaches Haridwar or Delhi by train or flight. Then the land package begins: our vehicles, drivers and hotels take over until the group is back on the platform. This page explains both halves and how we price them for groups.

Group itinerary from Haridwar
Groups starting in Delhi add a Delhi–Haridwar day at the beginning and drive from Srinagar Garhwal back to Delhi on the last day; see the Delhi plan.
Day 1
Haridwar station to Guptkashi
200 km7–8 hoursNight: Guptkashi
The group steps off the train and loads luggage into the Tempo Traveller. After a quick breakfast, the vehicle climbs past Rishikesh to Devprayag, where the group can take photographs at the sangam. Lunch is at Rudraprayag, and you reach Guptkashi before dark, where rooms are already allotted.
Day 2
Kedarnath by trek, pony or helicopter
30 km + 16 kmFull dayNight: Kedarnath
Groups often split today: the fit walk, elders ride ponies or palkis, and anyone with IRCTC shuttle tickets flies. Agree on a meeting point near the temple, since phone signal can be patchy on the trail, and everyone regroups at Kedarnath by evening. After the aarti, the group stays in guest houses near the temple.

Day 3
Kedarnath darshan and return
16 km + 30 kmFull dayNight: Guptkashi
The group queues early for darshan, which is faster before the day's arrivals climb up. Visit the Bhairavnath temple and Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi, then descend at your own pace. The vehicle waits at Sonprayag to take everyone back to Guptkashi.
Day 4
Guptkashi to Badrinath
200 km8–9 hoursNight: Badrinath
A long scenic drive across to the Alaknanda through Ukhimath and the Chopta forests, then up past Joshimath. Groups usually stop for chai at Chamoli. On arrival at Badrinath, the Tapt Kund and evening aarti close the day.
Day 5
Badrinath, Mana, Rudraprayag
About 160 km6–7 hoursNight: Rudraprayag
Darshan of Badri Narayan in the morning, then a group visit to Mana for Vyas Gufa and Bhim Pul. Families performing pind daan for ancestors can do so at Brahma Kapal with local priests. Drive down the Alaknanda to Rudraprayag.
Day 6
Rudraprayag to Haridwar
165 km6–7 hoursNight: Tour ends
The group descends to Haridwar by afternoon. There is time for shopping near Har Ki Pauri, then the evening train back to Gujarat. We drop everyone at the station with their luggage.

Choosing the right month
Both temples open in late April or early May and close in November. For Gujarat groups, three windows work best. May to mid-June fits school vacations but brings the biggest crowds and the highest hotel rates. Mid-September to October, after the monsoon and before Navratri or around it, is clear, green and much quieter, and many senior groups prefer it. Late October to early November suits Diwali-holiday travellers, but Kedarnath closes on Bhai Dooj, so plan your darshan before Diwali week. July and August are best avoided because heavy rain causes landslides on the hill roads.
The 2027 opening dates are announced in stages: Kedarnath on Mahashivratri and Badrinath on Basant Panchami. Track them on our opening dates page, and read the best time to visit for a month-by-month view.

Do Dham from Gujarat: FAQ
Can you handle a group of 25 or 30 from Gujarat?
Yes. We split the group across two Tempo Travellers or a bus and book hotels with enough rooms at each stop. Larger groups should confirm early because Kedarnath rooms are limited.
Is quad sharing possible to reduce cost?
Many hotels on the route offer rooms with an extra bed or two. We include quad sharing where available, which lowers the per-person price.
Should we start from Delhi or Haridwar?
If your train reaches Haridwar, start there and save a day. If it ends in Delhi, the 6N/7D plan includes the Delhi–Haridwar drive.
Do you arrange Gujarati food?
Hill hotels cook North Indian vegetarian meals. We pass on requests for less spice, no onion-garlic or Jain food, but variety is limited, so groups often carry snacks.
Can a Gujarat group extend the trip to Gangotri and Yamunotri?
