Swap the Deccan summer for the Himalayan cool. Hyderabad pilgrims can fly north in the morning and be on the road to Badrinath or Kedarnath by afternoon.
May in Hyderabad means 40-degree afternoons. May at Badrinath means snow on the peaks and a hot spring by the temple. That contrast is part of the appeal for Telangana families, many of whom plan a single-dham yatra in the summer holidays. The city is about 1,550 km from Delhi, which makes flying the sensible choice; the train takes the better part of a day each way.
We start the yatra from Haridwar or Dehradun airport (3N/4D) or from Delhi (4N/5D). Choose Badrinath if your group includes elders or young children, since there is no trek. Choose Kedarnath if you want the Jyotirlinga and are ready for a 16 km climb, a pony ride or an IRCTC shuttle.

Practical advice for Hyderabad travellers
Season. The 2026 season closes in November 2026; this page plans for 2027. Summer holidays (May–June) are busiest; mid-September to October is quieter and clearer.
Clothing. Thermals, a warm jacket, rain shell and good shoes. See things to carry.
Kedarnath helicopter. Seats are sold only on the IRCTC HeliYatra portal; there are many fake sites. Read the IRCTC guide.
Health. Elders should see a doctor before going above 3,000 m.
Gangotri-only and Yamunotri-only trips are also available from Haridwar. For both Kedarnath and Badrinath in one go, see the Do Dham Yatra from Hyderabad.
