Char Dham Helicopter Package from Haridwar 2027

From the Ganga's plains to its source, by air

For generations the Char Dham Yatra has begun in Haridwar, the gateway where the Ganga leaves the mountains. Families take a dip at Har Ki Pauri, attend the evening aarti and set off north the next morning. This package keeps that tradition but replaces nine days of winding road with six days of short flights. There is no helipad for the charter circuit in Haridwar itself, so your car takes you to the Sahastradhara helipad in Dehradun, roughly 1.5 hours away, and brings you back at the end.

The flying part is the same as our Dehradun helicopter yatra: nights at Kharsali, Harsil, Guptkashi and Badrinath, with Kedarnath on day 4. What changes is the start and finish. Most Haridwar guests arrive the day before by train or road, spend the evening at the ghats, and are collected from their hotel after an early breakfast.

The per-person estimate below assumes a shared group flight. A private car for the Haridwar–Dehradun transfers is included.

Road or helicopter from Haridwar: which suits you?

The price gap is large, so it helps to be clear about what the helicopter actually buys. It is mostly time and physical ease. On the road route you spend roughly 50 hours in a car over ten days, and you walk 16 km each way to Kedarnath unless you hold a shuttle ticket. By air, you are in a vehicle for only a few hours in total.

Six-day itinerary from Haridwar

   Haridwar to Sahastradhara, fly to Kharsali

   About 60 km by road1.5 hours drive + about 40 minutes flyingNight: Kharsali

   After an early breakfast your car leaves Haridwar for the Sahastradhara helipad on the far side of Dehradun. Following check-in and the weigh-in, you fly north into the Yamuna valley and land at Kharsali. In the afternoon you go up the 6 km path from Janki Chatti to Yamunotri by foot, pony or palki, and return to Kharsali for the night.

2. Day
   2

   Fly to Harsil, darshan at Gangotri

   Short flight + 25 km driveNight: Harsil

   A short morning flight brings you to Harsil in the Bhagirathi valley. The road to Gangotri runs through pine and deodar to the temple of Goddess Ganga, the same river you saw at Har Ki Pauri two days earlier. Spend time at Bhagirath Shila before returning to Harsil.

   Harsil to Guptkashi

   About 45 minutes flyingNight: Guptkashi

   Today's flight crosses several ridges to the Mandakini valley. After landing you check in at Guptkashi, where an unhurried afternoon helps you adjust to the altitude. Visit the old Vishwanath temple in the town if you feel like a short walk.

   Kedarnath darshan

   A few minutes each wayNight: Guptkashi

   Fly up the gorge to Kedarnath early in the morning, when skies are usually clearest. Walk to the temple for darshan and see the Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi and the great boulder behind the shrine. Return to Guptkashi by flight for lunch and rest.

5. Day

   Guptkashi to Badrinath

   About 30 minutes flyingNight: Badrinath

   Fly across to the Alaknanda valley and settle into your Badrinath hotel. Bathe in the Tapt Kund, offer prayers at Badri Narayan and, if time allows, visit Mana village with its Vyas Gufa and Bhim Pul. The evening aarti closes a memorable day.

   Badrinath to Dehradun, drive to Haridwar

   After morning darshan you fly back to Sahastradhara. Your car is waiting to drive you to Haridwar, where you can offer Ganga jal from Gangotri at Har Ki Pauri, catch the evening aarti or board your train home.
