Indocopters on the Kedarnath route

Indocopters is one of the private helicopter companies whose name appears in searches for Kedarnath flights. On the Kedarnath shuttle, every operator, Indocopters included, flies under a common state-run system. Helipads and sectors are allotted to operators season by season, fares are fixed for each sector, and seats are sold to pilgrims through one channel only: the IRCTC HeliYatra portal.

So whichever operator you are hoping to fly with, the booking always goes through the same portal. The operator assigned to your helipad and date is printed on the ticket. Which companies fly which helipad in 2027 will be shown when booking opens; please do not rely on older lists, including ones you find on travel blogs. We do not publish aircraft or fleet details, which are for the operator to confirm.

The only genuine way to get a shuttle seat

1. Register for the yatra on registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in or the Tourist Care Uttarakhand app. It is free and gives each pilgrim a registration number. See the registration guide.
2. Go to heliyatra.irctc.co.in yourself. Type the address; do not follow links from ads, messages or unknown pages.
3. Log in and wait for the booking window announced on the portal for your travel dates.
4. Choose helipad, date and sector, then the slot. The operator is shown with the slot.
5. Enter passenger registration numbers and pay on the portal's payment page.
6. Download the ticket from your IRCTC account. A genuine ticket lives in your account, not just in a WhatsApp image.

Fares are the same whichever operator flies the sector. 2027 fares will be published on the IRCTC portal.

Red flags of a fake Kedarnath helicopter booking

Every season, pilgrims lose money to pages that copy an operator's name and logo. The pattern is usually the same, and knowing it is the best protection.

• A web address that is not heliyatra.irctc.co.in, even if it carries an operator's name such as Indocopters, or words like "official" and "Kedarnath heli booking".
• Payment to a personal UPI ID, a bank account or a wallet number instead of the portal's payment page.
• No yatra registration number asked for. A genuine booking cannot be made without it.
• "Guaranteed" or "VIP" seats for an extra fee, especially on dates the portal shows as full.
• Pressure to pay immediately because "only two seats are left".
• A ticket sent only as an image or PDF on WhatsApp that you cannot find in your own IRCTC account.
• Search ads and social media pages with a helpline number and no real company details.

Why Kedarnath tickets attract so many fake sellers

Demand for shuttle seats is far higher than supply. On popular dates in May and June, seats on the portal can be gone within a short time of the window opening, and thousands of families are left searching for another way. That gap is what fraudsters exploit. They buy search ads for phrases such as "Indocopters Kedarnath booking", build pages that look like an operator's site, and answer the phone in a confident, helpful voice.

Their offer usually sounds reasonable: the normal fare plus a "service charge", with a promise of a confirmed seat. The money goes to a personal account, a ticket image arrives on WhatsApp, and the fraud is discovered only at the helipad, or not at all because the number stops answering. Remember that a genuine seat cannot be bought at any price outside the portal, so the extra charge is not buying you anything real. If you have already paid a fake site

1. Stop further payments and do not share any OTP or card details.
2. Call your bank at once and ask them to block or dispute the transaction.
3. Report the fraud on the national cyber crime portal (cybercrime.gov.in) or the cyber crime helpline 1930.
4. Keep evidence: screenshots of the page, chats, payment receipts and phone numbers.
5. Try the genuine portal for any remaining seats, or plan to trek or use a pony or palki.

What to do once you hold a genuine ticket

• Keep a spare day in the plan in case cloud delays flights.
• Carry the ticket printout, registration and photo ID for each person.
• Pack light: operators weigh passengers and baggage at check-in.
• Plan the road journey from Delhi or Haridwar around the flight date.

When a charter is the better choice

If your dates are fixed and you cannot risk missing a shuttle seat, a charter from Dehradun removes the IRCTC lottery altogether.
