Char Dham + Vaishno Devi
- Break the journey at Katra
- All four dhams by road
- Good for families from J&K
For pilgrims in the Kashmir valley: fly south to Delhi or Dehradun, or take the train through Jammu, and join a nine-night road yatra from Haridwar to Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath.
This page is for travellers starting in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. It is worth saying at the outset, because the Char Dham route has its own Srinagar: Srinagar Garhwal, a town on the Alaknanda where many itineraries, including ours, spend a night on the way back from Badrinath. If you searched for that Srinagar, you will find it as a night stop in the itinerary below.
Kashmiri Pandit families, army and government staff posted in the valley, and businesses with roots in both regions all make this journey. Srinagar to Haridwar is roughly 770 km by road through Jammu, too far for a comfortable road pick-up, so we suggest flying or using the train and joining our Haridwar Char Dham package. If you land in Delhi and want to be collected there, choose the Delhi package instead.
Whichever way you come, send us your arrival time and the vehicle will be waiting. See Char Dham by air and Char Dham by train for more details.
| Package | Duration | Budget | Deluxe | Luxury |

Begin early from Haridwar towards Dehradun and the hill town of Mussoorie. The road follows the Yamuna valley to Barkot. Pine forests here will feel familiar after Pahalgam and Gulmarg.
From Janki Chatti, walk or ride 6 km to the temple of Goddess Yamuna. Offer prayers at Divya Shila and cook rice in Surya Kund. Return to Barkot.
Cross to the Bhagirathi valley and reach Uttarkashi by lunch. Rest in the afternoon. The Kashi Vishwanath temple is close by.
Drive past Gangnani and the deodar-lined Harsil valley to Gangotri. The temple is next to the road. After darshan and Bhagirath Shila, return to Uttarkashi.
A long drive past Tehri lake to the Mandakini valley. Arrive by evening. Prepare warm clothes and a small bag for Kedarnath.
Take the jeep from Sonprayag to Gaurikund and climb the 16 km trail, or ride a pony or palki. Pilgrims with IRCTC shuttle tickets fly from Phata, Sersi or Guptkashi. Overnight near the temple.
Early darshan of the Jyotirlinga, then Bhairavnath temple and the Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi. Walk down. Drive back to the hotel.
Drive through Ukhimath and Chamoli to Joshimath, then up to Badrinath. The valley is wide and stark, rather like the high country beyond Sonamarg. Tapt Kund and evening aarti.
Morning darshan of Badri Narayan, then Mana village with Vyas Gufa and Bhim Pul. Drive down the Alaknanda to Srinagar Garhwal, the namesake of your home city, or to Rudraprayag. Overnight by the river.
Stop at Devprayag where the Ganga is formed. Reach Haridwar by afternoon. Drop at the station, or at Dehradun airport for your flight north.
