People searching for a Haridwar-to-Char-Dham car usually want one of two things. Some already know where they will stay, perhaps at an ashram, a dharamshala or with a samiti they trust, and only need a reliable vehicle and driver. Others want everything sorted in one booking. We do both, and this page explains the cost and the daily plan for each.

Haridwar Char Dham cab rates, 2027

The rates below cover the full ten-day circuit. They include fuel, the driver's wages, food and night stay, state entry permits, tolls and parking. There is no per-kilometre meter running: the price is fixed for the standard route.

Estimated 2027 rates per vehicle. Extra days, detours (such as Tungnath or Harsil overnight) and waiting caused by road closures are charged per day as quoted.

Car + hotel package price

Per person for a group of four on twin or triple sharing. A couple pays about ₹27,500 each on budget hotels, and a group of 10–12 in a Tempo about ₹19,500 each. The daily drive plan from Haridwar

This is the plan your driver follows. Start times are suggestions; in peak weeks he may ask you to leave earlier to clear checkpoints and parking queues.

   Haridwar → Barkot

   210 km7–8 hoursNight: Barkot

   Pick-up around 7 am from your Haridwar hotel or the station. The car climbs via Dehradun and Mussoorie, where the driver usually stops for breakfast with a view. You descend to the Yamuna at Naugaon and reach Barkot by mid-afternoon.

   Barkot → Janki Chatti → Barkot

   90 kmFull dayNight: Barkot

   Leave at about 6 am for Janki Chatti, 45 km away, where the car parks for the day. You trek 6 km each way to Yamunotri or hire a pony at the counter. The driver is reachable on the phone and brings you back to Barkot once you are down.

   3

   Barkot → Uttarkashi

   100 km4–5 hoursNight: Uttarkashi

   A short, easy transfer after breakfast over the Radi pass area and down to Dharasu on the Bhagirathi. You reach Uttarkashi by lunch. The afternoon is free for the Kashi Vishwanath temple or simply rest.

   Uttarkashi → Gangotri → Uttarkashi

   200 km8–9 hoursNight: Uttarkashi

   An early start avoids the queue of vehicles near Gangotri parking. The car stops at Gangnani for the hot spring and at Harsil for photos on the way up. After darshan at the temple, it is a straight run back down the valley.

   Uttarkashi → Guptkashi

   220 km8–9 hoursNight: Guptkashi / Sitapur

   The longest drive, past the Tehri lake area and over the ridges into the Mandakini valley; the driver picks the road that is in best shape that week. The driver plans lunch roughly halfway. Keep a small backpack ready tonight with warm clothes and medicines for Kedarnath.

   Guptkashi → Sonprayag; trek to Kedarnath

   30 km + 16 km on foot7–9 hoursNight: Kedarnath

   The car drops you at Sonprayag parking around dawn and waits there or returns to Guptkashi. A shared jeep takes you to Gaurikund, from where you walk or ride to Kedarnath. Guests with IRCTC helicopter seats are dropped at their helipad instead.

   Kedarnath → Sonprayag → Guptkashi

   16 km on foot + 30 kmFull dayNight: Guptkashi

   After early darshan, start down the trail by mid-morning. Call the driver from Gaurikund so he is waiting at Sonprayag when the jeep drops you. A short drive to Guptkashi and an early night follow.

8. Day
   8

   Guptkashi → Badrinath

   200 km8–9 hoursNight: Badrinath

   The road goes via Ukhimath and Chopta through rhododendron forest, then down to Gopeshwar and Chamoli. After Joshimath the driver slows for the final climb past Hanuman Chatti. Reach Badrinath by late afternoon for Tapt Kund and aarti.

   Badrinath → Mana → Rudraprayag

   160 km6–7 hoursNight: Rudraprayag / Srinagar

   Morning darshan, then the car takes you 3 km to Mana village and waits while you walk to Vyas Gufa and Bhim Pul. Leave Badrinath around noon to reach Rudraprayag or Srinagar in daylight. This keeps the final day short.

    Rudraprayag → Haridwar

    Down the Alaknanda past Devprayag and Rishikesh. Drop at Haridwar station, bus stand or hotel by afternoon. If your train is late at night, ask in advance about a day room.

What is covered

Things to know about hiring a car in Haridwar

• Book a local hill vehicle. Plains taxis are not always used to these roads; ours are driven by drivers who work the route every season.
• Agree the route in writing. Our quote lists every night stop, so there is no confusion about what the fixed price covers.
• Plan for one slow day. Traffic control on the Gangotri and Badrinath roads can hold cars for an hour or two in peak season.
• Keep registration handy. Police check registrations at several points; see the registration guide.
