Kedarnath for Bhopal
- Delhi station pick-up
- Night at Kedarnath
- Trek, pony or shuttle
Madhya Pradesh is home to two Jyotirlingas. For many Bhopal devotees, the next one on the list is Kedarnath, a night's train ride and a few days' climb away.
Pilgrims from Bhopal grow up close to Mahakaleshwar at Ujjain and Omkareshwar on the Narmada. Kedarnath, the highest of the twelve Jyotirlingas at 3,583 m, is a very different temple: snowbound for half the year, reached on foot or by helicopter, and open only from spring to Bhai Dooj. A single-dham yatra lets you make that journey without committing to the full fortnight of the Char Dham circuit.
Bhopal is about 780 km from Delhi, and the overnight trains between the two are frequent and comfortable. You board in the evening, wake up in Delhi, and our driver meets you at the station. From there the Kedarnath package or the Badrinath package runs 4 nights and 5 days and brings you back to Delhi for the train home.
Kedarnath is also the first of the Panch Kedar, the five Garhwal temples linked to the story of Shiva taking the form of a bull to avoid the Pandavas. When the 2027 season opens, its winter idol returns from the Omkareshwar temple at Ukhimath, a name that will sound familiar to every pilgrim from Madhya Pradesh.

Before dawn, join the queue for darshan of the Jyotirlinga, a rock in the shape of a bull's hump. Visit the Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi, then walk down. Your car takes you on to Rudraprayag or Srinagar Garhwal.
