Surat travels in groups: joint families, neighbours from the same society, colleagues from the market. This Kedarnath plan is built for that, with a Delhi pick-up, one vehicle for everyone and rooms booked together.
Surat sits on the main western rail corridor, roughly 1,150 km from Delhi, with overnight trains and direct or connecting flights to the capital. That makes Delhi the obvious meeting point. From there the road to Kedarnath runs about 460 km to Sonprayag, followed by a short jeep ride and the 16 km climb from Gaurikund to the temple.
What sets many Surat trips apart is size. Enquiries often come for eight, twelve or more people travelling together, sometimes three generations in one group. For them a Tempo Traveller often costs less per head than two separate cars, keeps everyone on the same schedule, and makes the night stops simpler. Smaller families can take a sedan or an Innova Crysta on exactly the same itinerary. Both options are part of our Kedarnath yatra packages.

The vehicle waits at the Delhi station as your overnight train from Surat pulls in. After tea and breakfast on the way out of the city, you drive through western Uttar Pradesh to Haridwar. Check in, freshen up and join the crowd at Har Ki Pauri for the evening aarti.
Day 2
Haridwar to Guptkashi through the hills
200 km7–8 hoursNight: Guptkashi
Today the plains end. Past Rishikesh the road clings to the valley sides above the Ganga, then the Alaknanda; Devprayag and Rudraprayag are the main stops. Guptkashi, facing the snowy Chaukhamba massif, is where the group rests before the big day.
Day 3
Gaurikund to Kedarnath
30 km + 16 km trek6–9 hours on footNight: Kedarnath
Drive to Sonprayag at dawn and take shared jeeps to Gaurikund. Big groups naturally split between walkers, pony riders and palki passengers, so fix a meeting point at the temple and keep phones charged. Evening aarti at the shrine is the reward for a long day.

Day 4
Darshan and drive down to Srinagar Garhwal
16 km trek + about 100 kmLong dayNight: Srinagar / Rudraprayag
Morning darshan as a group, then Bhairavnath temple for those with energy to spare. Walk or ride down to Gaurikund, where the jeep returns you to Sonprayag and your vehicle. Continue to Srinagar Garhwal or Rudraprayag for the night.
Day 5
Srinagar Garhwal to Delhi
About 360 km10–11 hoursNight: Drop at Delhi station or airport
An early start brings you out of the hills by lunchtime and into Delhi by evening. Book your return train to Surat for late night or the following day, keeping a margin for traffic and weather.
Splitting a big group? Fit walkers can leave Gaurikund first while pony riders follow an hour later; both usually reach the temple around the same time. Palki passengers should start earliest, as palkis move slowest on the steep stretches.
Groups with only four days can start from Haridwar instead and skip the Delhi legs; the plan is on our Haridwar package page. Groups with nine or ten days often add Badrinath, Mana village and the Panch Prayag confluences, which is the Kedarnath Badrinath tour from Delhi.
