Char Dham from Dehradun
- Jolly Grant airport pick-up and drop
- Two days shorter than Delhi
- All four dhams by road
From Chamundi Hill to the Garhwal Himalaya. For Mysuru families, the trip north usually begins with a drive to Bengaluru airport, and from there the four dhams are less than a day away.
Mysuru is roughly 2,400 km from Delhi, and its own airport has only a few connections. In practice, almost every family we plan for from Mysuru, Mandya and Chamarajanagar follows the same pattern: road to Bengaluru's Kempegowda airport, a flight north, and then our road tour through the mountains.
Flying straight into Dehradun is our first suggestion: the tour is two days shorter, and you avoid the drive out of Delhi. The Delhi route makes sense when fares to Dehradun are high or when you want to combine the trip with family in the capital.
| Hotel category | From Dehradun (9N/10D) | From Delhi (11N/12D) |
|---|---|---|
| Budget | ₹21,500 | ₹24,500 |
| Deluxe | ₹32,500 | ₹35,500 |
| Luxury | ₹49,500 | ₹53,500 |
Per person, four travellers sharing a vehicle, twin or triple rooms. 2027 estimates: the final quote depends on dates, hotel category and group size. Flights, ponies, palkis and helicopter tickets are extra.

Take an early flight from Bengaluru and meet your driver at Jolly Grant. The road passes through Dehradun and climbs to Mussoorie before dropping into the Yamuna valley. If your flight lands late, we stay the first night in Dehradun or Mussoorie instead.
Drive to Janki Chatti and climb the 6 km trail to Yamunotri on foot or by pony. Take darshan of Goddess Yamuna and see the bubbling Surya Kund. Return to Barkot in the evening.
A short drive across the hills to Uttarkashi. Rest in the afternoon. Visit the Kashi Vishwanath temple in the evening.
Drive up the Bhagirathi valley past Harsil to Gangotri. Offer prayers at the temple and Bhagirath Shila. Return to Uttarkashi via the hot spring at Gangnani.
A long day on the road via Tehri and Srinagar to the Mandakini valley. Take motion-sickness tablets if you need them. Pack a small bag for Kedarnath.
Take the shared jeep from Sonprayag to Gaurikund and climb 16 km to the temple, on foot, pony or palki. Pilgrims holding IRCTC tickets fly by shuttle from Phata, Sersi or Guptkashi. Attend the evening aarti.
Morning darshan of the Jyotirlinga. Visit the Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi, a place of special meaning for followers of the Sringeri tradition in Karnataka. Descend and drive to Guptkashi.
Drive via Ukhimath and Chamoli to Joshimath and on to Badrinath. Arrive in the afternoon. Bathe at Tapt Kund and attend evening darshan.
Morning darshan of Badri Narayan completes the yatra. Visit Mana village, Vyas Gufa and Bhim Pul. Drive down to Rudraprayag.
Drive down past Devprayag and Rishikesh to Jolly Grant airport. Book an evening flight to Bengaluru. From there, it is a three- to four-hour drive home to Mysuru.
The Delhi version adds a day at each end. On day 1 the driver meets you at Delhi airport and drives about 230 km to Haridwar, where you spend the night near the ghats. Days 2 to 11 follow the same mountain route as above, with the last mountain night at Rudraprayag followed by a night in Haridwar. On day 12 you drive back to Delhi for the flight to Bengaluru.
This route suits families who want to see the Ganga aarti at Har Ki Pauri, or who have relatives to visit in Delhi before or after the yatra. It costs about ₹3,000 more per person on the land package, but Delhi fares from Bengaluru are often lower than Dehradun fares, so compare both before deciding. Our Char Dham by air page explains the trade-offs.
