Char Dham Yatra Package from Kanpur 2027

Why Kanpur pilgrims start at Haridwar

Kanpur families have bathed in the Ganga at Sarsaiya Ghat and Bithoor for generations. The Char Dham Yatra lets you follow that same river to its Himalayan source at Gangotri, and then on to Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. It is one of the most meaningful journeys a Kanpur household can plan, and it is easier to reach than most people think.

Kanpur is about 550 km from Haridwar and roughly 490 km from Delhi. That is a little too far for a comfortable road pick-up, so most of our Kanpur guests take an overnight train and step off in Haridwar or Delhi in the morning. Starting at Haridwar is the cheapest and shortest plan: our Char Dham package from Haridwar runs 9 nights and 10 days, and the car is waiting at the station.

Getting from Kanpur to Haridwar or Delhi

Overnight train (recommended)

Kanpur Central sits on one of India's busiest rail lines. Many trains run overnight to Delhi, and some continue towards Haridwar and Dehradun. Board in the evening, sleep through the plains and wake up near the hills. Check the current timetable on the IRCTC website when you plan, and book AC berths early for May and October travel.

By air

Kanpur has a small airport with limited routes, and Lucknow airport is about 90 km away with frequent flights to Delhi. Flying makes sense only if you are short of leave; for most families, the train is cheaper and simpler. The by-air guide explains flying into Delhi or Dehradun.

By road

If your group prefers to drive all the way, a Kanpur pick-up can be quoted on request. The drive to Haridwar takes most of a day, so it adds one night and one road day to the trip.

Advice for Kanpur families

  • Book berths early. Summer holiday trains from Kanpur fill weeks ahead. Book the return train for the evening of Day 10 or the next morning to allow for road delays.
  • Walk before you go. Kanpur is flat; Kedarnath is a 16 km climb. A month of daily brisk walks makes a real difference.
  • Choose the right months. May–June and mid-September to October are best. Avoid July–August monsoon landslides; see best time to visit.
  • Registration is mandatory and free. Do it online before the train journey; our registration guide walks you through it.
  • Warm clothes. Even in May, nights at Kedarnath and Badrinath are cold. Use our packing checklist.

Short on leave? The Do Dham package from Haridwar covers Kedarnath and Badrinath in six days, and the Teen Dham package from Haridwar adds Gangotri in eight.
