Badrinath from Delhi
- Home pickup in Delhi NCR
- Night at Badrinath
- Mana village
Badrinath is the one dham you can drive right up to, which makes it the gentlest of the four for families leaving from Delhi. Five days, no trek, and a night beside the temple.
Of the four Char Dham shrines, Badrinath is the easiest to reach from the capital. A motorable road runs all the way to the town at 3,133 m, so grandparents and small children can come along without ponies, palkis or helicopter tickets. The temple of Lord Vishnu as Badri Narayan stands on the bank of the Alaknanda, between the Nar and Narayan ranges, with the snow pyramid of Neelkanth behind it.
Our Delhi plan takes four nights: Haridwar, Joshimath, Badrinath and Srinagar (Garhwal). It gives you an evening aarti and a morning darshan at the temple, a half-day at Mana village, and the five Panch Prayag confluences on the drive. All prices on this page are 2027 estimates, since the 2026 season closes in mid-November.
Badrinath is counted among the four dhams of India linked with Adi Shankaracharya, alongside Dwarka, Puri and Rameswaram, and it is also the northernmost shrine of Uttarakhand's Char Dham. Legend says Lord Vishnu meditated here in the open while Goddess Lakshmi sheltered him in the form of a badri (jujube) tree, which gave the place its name. The black stone image of Badri Narayan is shown seated in meditation.
The drive from Delhi is part of the pilgrimage. Beyond Rishikesh you pass all five Panch Prayag, the sacred river confluences, in order: Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, Nandprayag and finally Vishnuprayag just below Badrinath. Many families offer flowers or take a dip at each one. In winter, when snow closes the town, worship moves to Pandukeshwar and Jyotirmath, and the temple reopens in late April or early May.
| Confluence | Rivers that meet | Where on the route |
|---|---|---|
| Devprayag | Alaknanda and Bhagirathi | Day 2, about 3 hours from Haridwar |
| Rudraprayag | Alaknanda and Mandakini | Day 2, lunch halt |
| Karnaprayag | Alaknanda and Pindar | Day 2, afternoon |
| Nandprayag | Alaknanda and Nandakini | Day 2, before Chamoli |
| Vishnuprayag | Alaknanda and Dhauliganga | Day 3, just after Joshimath |
Per-person prices for a group of four sharing one vehicle and twin or triple rooms. If you can reach Haridwar on your own by train, the shorter Haridwar plan saves a night.
| Package | Duration | Budget | Deluxe | Luxury |

We pick you up from your home, hotel, railway station or the airport in the morning. The drive via Meerut reaches Haridwar by afternoon. After check-in, walk to Har Ki Pauri for the evening Ganga aarti, then dinner at the hotel.
An early start is essential for the longest mountain drive. The road follows the Ganga to Devprayag and then the Alaknanda upstream through Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag and Nandprayag, four of the five sacred confluences. Reach Joshimath, now officially Jyotirmath, in the evening. Adi Shankaracharya founded one of his four maths here.
A short drive past Vishnuprayag and Govindghat brings you to Badrinath by mid-morning. Bathe at the Tapt Kund hot spring and join the queue for darshan. In the afternoon visit Mana village for Vyas Gufa, Ganesh Gufa and Bhim Pul over the Saraswati, then return for the evening aarti at the temple.
Staying overnight gives you a second, quieter darshan at dawn. Families wishing to offer pind daan for ancestors do so at Brahma Kapal on the riverbank. After breakfast drive down the valley to Srinagar, stopping at Nandprayag or Karnaprayag for photographs.
Leave soon after breakfast. Pause at Devprayag, where the Alaknanda meets the Bhagirathi and the Ganga begins. Continue via Rishikesh and Haridwar to Delhi for an evening drop.
| Night | Town | What to expect |

About 550 km by road via Haridwar and Joshimath. The drive takes two days each way with a night stop, which is why the package is four nights and five days.
From about ₹10,500 per person on budget hotels, ₹14,500 on deluxe and ₹22,500 on luxury, for four people sharing a vehicle. These are 2027 estimates.
No. The road goes up to Badrinath town and the temple is a short walk from the parking. Mana village involves some easy walking on paved paths.
By road it is too far for a weekend. A same-day Badrinath helicopter charter from Dehradun is the only way to do it in a day or two.
The date is announced on Basant Panchami at Narendranagar, and the temple usually opens in late April or early May. It closes in November on a date fixed at Vijayadashami.
Yes, it is the most senior-friendly of the four dhams. The road is long and winding, so we break it at Haridwar and Joshimath. Elders should carry their medicines and avoid exertion on arrival at altitude.
Yes. The Badrinath Kedarnath package from Delhi takes six nights and seven days and starts from about ₹15,500 per person.
