Two good ways north from the Central line suburbs: a flight to Dehradun that saves two days, or a long-distance train from Kalyan Junction to Delhi. Both lead to the same Himalayan circuit of four shrines.
Kalyan, Dombivli, Thakurli, Ambernath and Badlapur send a steady stream of pilgrims to Uttarakhand every summer, often as extended families or groups from the same building or mandal. The distance to Delhi is about 1,400 km, so the first decision is simply how to cover it. Flying shortens the trip; the train saves money and suits groups with lots of luggage.
If you fly, we recommend landing at Dehradun's Jolly Grant airport and joining our Char Dham package from Dehradun. The tour starts and ends at the airport, takes 9 nights and 10 days, and avoids the Delhi traffic altogether. If you take the train from Kalyan Junction, you arrive in Delhi and join our 11N/12D Delhi package instead.

Practical tips for Mumbai-region travellers
Coastal humidity does not prepare you for dry, thin mountain air. Drink plenty of water and climb slowly.
Carry proper woollens; a monsoon jacket from Mumbai is useful, but not warm enough on its own.
Hotels serve North Indian vegetarian food. Pack poha, chivda or thepla for long road days.
Register each traveller for free on the Uttarakhand portal or app; see our registration guide.
Kedarnath shuttle tickets are sold only on IRCTC HeliYatra; our IRCTC booking guide explains the process.
WhatsApp +91-99111 77951 with your travel month, number of people and whether you will fly or take the train.
Get a day-wise quote for the matching package.
Book flights or trains that fit the pick-up and drop times we suggest.
Pay the advance to confirm hotels and vehicle.
Register and travel. We stay reachable by phone throughout the yatra.
Kalyan-Dombivli to Char Dham: FAQ
Which is better from Kalyan-Dombivli: flight or train?
Flying to Dehradun saves about three days overall and suits seniors. The train from Kalyan Junction to Delhi is cheaper and easier for big groups with luggage.
What does the package cost?
About ₹21,500 per person from Dehradun or ₹24,500 from Delhi, for four travellers on budget hotels. These are 2027 estimates; flights and trains are extra.
Do trains to Delhi stop at Kalyan?
Many long-distance trains to the north stop at Kalyan Junction, so most residents do not need to travel to CSMT or LTT. Check current timetables when you book.
Can we do only Kedarnath and Badrinath?
Yes. The Do Dham package takes 5N/6D from Haridwar, and you can fly to Dehradun to join it.
Is the yatra suitable for senior citizens from our society?
Yes. Gangotri and Badrinath are road-accessible. For Yamunotri and Kedarnath, ponies, palkis or the Kedarnath helicopter shuttle help. A full helicopter Char Dham is the easiest option.
When should we travel?
May and June suit school holidays, while mid-September to October has clearer skies. Avoid July and August. See the best time to visit.
Do you sell Kedarnath helicopter tickets?
No. They are sold only on the IRCTC HeliYatra portal after registration. We help you prepare and fit the flight into the plan.
