Gangotri Yamunotri from Delhi
- Delhi airport pick-up
- Barkot and Uttarkashi stays
- Private vehicle throughout
Vizag to the Himalaya is a long way, so the plan matters: fly or take the train to Delhi, then a calm six-night road journey to the shrines of Yamuna and Ganga.
From the beaches of Visakhapatnam to the snow-fed springs of Yamunotri is close to 2,000 km by land. Few pilgrims from coastal Andhra Pradesh attempt the whole distance by road; the usual approach is to cover the long leg to Delhi by air or rail and hand the mountain part to a local team. That is what this package does. We pick you up in Delhi, take you to Yamunotri and Gangotri through Barkot and Uttarkashi, and return you to Delhi for your flight or train home.
Gangotri and Yamunotri together form the western half of the Char Dham. They suit families from Vizag who want a meaningful Himalayan pilgrimage without the 16 km Kedarnath climb: Gangotri is reached by road, and Yamunotri needs just a 6 km walk with ponies and palkis available.
Visakhapatnam airport has regular flights to Delhi, taking about two and a half hours nonstop, longer with a connection. By rail the journey runs roughly 28 to 36 hours, usually via Raipur and Nagpur or via the east coast and central India. For a trip of this length most Vizag families fly at least one way.
| Route | Approximate time | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Flight Vizag – Delhi | About 2.5 hours | Morning arrival lets us reach Haridwar the same day |
| Train Vizag – Delhi | 28–36 hours | Two nights on board; book AC classes early |
| Flight to Dehradun with a connection | 5–8 hours | Starts the tour close to the hills |
| Delhi – Haridwar by road | 230 km, 6–7 hours | Included in this package |
If your flight lands at Jolly Grant in Dehradun, we can begin there and run the shorter Haridwar plan. For more on routes see Char Dham by air and Char Dham by train.
Prices are estimated per person, for four people sharing a vehicle and twin or triple rooms. Airfare or train fare from Visakhapatnam is booked separately, so the figure stays the same whichever way you travel north.
| Package | Duration | Budget | Deluxe | Luxury |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Delhi to Delhi | 6N / 7D | ₹14,500 | ₹21,000 | ₹31,500 |
| Haridwar / Dehradun start | 5N / 6D | ₹12,500 | ₹18,500 | ₹28,000 |
2027 estimates. Final price depends on travel dates, hotel category and group size. Ponies, palkis, lunch on budget and deluxe plans and personal expenses are extra.
We meet you at Delhi airport or station after your journey from Visakhapatnam. Drive north via Meerut and Roorkee, with a tea stop on the way. Evening is free for the Ganga aarti at Har Ki Pauri if time allows.
This is the first mountain day. The road climbs through Dehradun and Mussoorie and then winds down to the Yamuna valley. Take motion-sickness tablets if you are prone to it, as the bends are many. Overnight at Barkot.
Drive to Janki Chatti and start the 6 km walk to Yamunotri; ponies and palkis wait at the start of the path. At the temple, bathe in the warm spring water, cook rice in Surya Kund as prasad and take darshan of Goddess Yamuna. Walk down and return to Barkot.
Cross the forested ridge into the Bhagirathi valley. Uttarkashi has a riverside town feel and an ancient Kashi Vishwanath temple worth an evening visit. An early night prepares you for Gangotri.
Drive up the gorge past Gangnani, known for its hot spring, and Harsil. At Gangotri, offer prayers at the temple of Ma Ganga and see Bhagirath Shila beside the river. Fill Gangajal to take home to Vizag and return to Uttarkashi.
Descend through Chamba with views over Tehri lake. Spend the late afternoon in Rishikesh at Ram Jhula and the evening aarti at Triveni Ghat or Parmarth. Overnight in Rishikesh.
Leave after breakfast for Delhi airport or station. We time the departure to your flight or train back to Visakhapatnam. An evening flight is the safest choice.

Other trips from Vizag: Kedarnath, Do Dham, Teen Dham and Badrinath.
Roughly 2,000 km overland. Most pilgrims fly or take the train to Delhi (about 1,800 km by rail), then the road tour covers the last 450 km or so into the hills.
With flights, about eight days door to door: the 6-night land tour plus travel days. By train, allow ten to eleven days.
The land tour from Delhi is estimated from ₹14,500 per person for four travellers on budget hotels. Flights or trains from Visakhapatnam are extra.
Dehradun is usually reached with a connection. If you land there, the tour can start at Jolly Grant airport on the 5-night plan, from about ₹12,500 per person.
Yes. Gangotri needs no trekking, and Yamunotri can be done by pony or palki. Keep the pace slow and consult your doctor before travelling to high altitude.
Hotels serve North Indian vegetarian meals. Rishikesh and Haridwar have some South Indian restaurants; in the mountains, carry a few comfort foods.
Yes. Adding Kedarnath makes it a Teen Dham trip from Vizag; adding Badrinath too makes the full Char Dham.
