Badrinath Yatra Hotel Booking 2027

Staying in Badrinath: what to know first

Badrinath is a real town, not just a temple. Unlike Kedarnath, cars drive right in, and there are hundreds of rooms spread over a narrow strip of land between the Alaknanda river and the mountains. That makes Badrinath the easiest of the four dhams for an overnight stay, and staying the night is worth it: the early-morning darshan queue is shorter, and the evening aarti with Neelkanth peak glowing behind the temple is unforgettable.

Rooms are still simpler than in the plains. Most buildings are a few storeys, heating is by electric heater or extra blankets, and hot water may come by bucket in budget hotels. Prices rise sharply in May and June and around festivals. If your yatra is part of a Badrinath tour package or Char Dham trip, we book the room for you as part of the plan; this page explains the options so you know what you are choosing.

Which part of Badrinath to stay in

Temple side, across the bridge

The temple stands on the right bank of the Alaknanda, with the Tapt Kund hot spring below it. Guest houses and dharamshalas on this side put you a few minutes' walk from the steps, which helps elderly pilgrims who want to join the pre-dawn queue. Rooms here are mostly basic and fill early.

Main bazaar and bus stand area

Across the bridge on the left bank is the main market, the parking area and the largest cluster of hotels. This is where most standard and deluxe hotels are found, along with restaurants serving simple vegetarian food. It is a flat 10–15 minute walk to the temple.

Mana road and the edges of town

Hotels on the road towards Mana village, 3 km beyond the town, are often newer and quieter, some with mountain-facing rooms. They suit families with their own vehicle who do not mind a short drive or longer walk to the temple.

Joshimath, Pipalkoti and Govindghat

When Badrinath is full, or for travellers who prefer to sleep lower, Joshimath (Jyotirmath) offers a wider choice of hotels 45 km below. Pipalkoti and Govindghat are other stops on the way; Govindghat is also the base for the Hemkund Sahib trek. Staying lower means an early drive up for darshan, but nights are warmer.

Hotel-inclusive Badrinath packages

Booking the room alone is rarely the hard part; getting there at the right time is. Our packages bundle the Badrinath night with a private vehicle and the other stops, so the timing of each day is planned around darshan.

Tips for a comfortable night in Badrinath

  • Reach Badrinath by 3–4 pm. Late arrivals in peak season sometimes find their road delayed at Joshimath or by landslides, so keep the hotel informed.
  • Carry a light down jacket and thermals; rooms cool quickly after sunset.
  • Drink plenty of water and avoid heavy exertion on arrival if you have come straight from the plains.
  • Bathe at the Tapt Kund before darshan, as tradition suggests; it is a few steps below the temple.
  • Keep cash: card machines and mobile data can be unreliable.
  • Register for the yatra before you leave home; see our registration guide.
Closing week rush: around the closing ceremony in November, Badrinath hotels fill quickly and nights fall below freezing. Book well ahead if you plan to attend.

Badrinath hotel booking: FAQ

How much does a hotel in Badrinath cost?

Budget rooms start around ₹2,000 a night in season, standard and deluxe rooms run about ₹3,000–5,500, and the best available rooms reach around ₹8,000. Rates are estimates and rise in May–June.

Which is the best area to stay in Badrinath?

The main bazaar across the bridge has the widest choice and is a short walk from the temple. Elderly pilgrims may prefer the temple side for the early queue.

Should I stay in Badrinath or Joshimath?

Stay in Badrinath if you want early darshan and the evening aarti. Joshimath, 45 km below, is a good backup with warmer nights and more hotels.

Are hotels in Badrinath open all year?

No. Most close when the temple closes in November and reopen with the yatra in late April or May. In winter the deity is worshipped at Pandukeshwar and Jyotirmath.

Do Badrinath hotels have heaters?

Many standard and deluxe hotels offer room heaters, sometimes at an extra charge. Budget hotels usually provide heavy blankets instead.

Can I book only the hotel without a package?

We mainly book hotels as part of a yatra with transport. If you already have a vehicle, ask us; we can help with the room alone when availability allows.

Is food available near hotels?

Yes. Restaurants in the bazaar serve vegetarian North and South Indian food, and most hotels have a dining room. Packages include breakfast and dinner.
