You live at the foot of the eastern Himalaya; the Char Dham lies in the western half of the same range. From Siliguri, Bagdogra airport or New Jalpaiguri station, here is how to get there and what the yatra involves.
People in Siliguri see the Himalaya every clear day, and many have driven the roads to Darjeeling, Gangtok or Kalimpong. That experience helps on the Char Dham Yatra, but the Garhwal hills are different in scale. The shrines sit much higher, between 3,100 m and 3,583 m, the days on the road are longer, and two of the four temples need a walk.
Siliguri is roughly 1,500 km from Delhi. Most travellers either fly from Bagdogra to Delhi (and sometimes onward to Dehradun) or take a long-distance train from New Jalpaiguri. We suggest joining the tour at Haridwar with our 9-night Haridwar package. If your flight lands in Delhi and you would rather not handle the onward journey, the Delhi package collects you there.

The 2026 season closes in November 2026, so this page plans for 2027. Like North Bengal, Uttarakhand gets heavy monsoon rain in July and August; travel in May–June or late September to October.
Siliguri to Haridwar: the options
Fly Bagdogra → Delhi, then take an onward train to Haridwar or join our Delhi package. Fastest overall with frequent flights.
Fly Bagdogra → Dehradun with a connection. Jolly Grant airport is about 35 km from Haridwar and Rishikesh; we pick you up there for the 9-night tour.
Train from New Jalpaiguri to Delhi, then onward to Haridwar. Cheapest and good for groups, but allow two days each way.
NJP is the main railhead for North Bengal, Sikkim and the gateway to the Northeast, so trains in summer fill quickly. Book on the first day of reservations for May and June. Our Char Dham by train and by air guides cover timings and how we match pick-ups to your arrival.
