Badrinath Same-Day Charter
- Fly from Dehradun
- Darshan, Tapt Kund, Mana
- Home by evening
The road to Badrinath takes two days each way from Haridwar. A private helicopter from Dehradun puts you in front of Badri Narayan by mid-morning and home the same evening.
Unlike Kedarnath, Badrinath has a motor road all the way to the town, so most pilgrims drive. The catch is distance: Badrinath is about 320 km from Haridwar through Devprayag, Rudraprayag and Joshimath, and the round trip with darshan takes four days on our Badrinath road package. For travellers with a single free day, for elders who cannot sit through mountain drives, or for business families who want darshan between commitments, a same-day charter is the practical answer.
The helicopter leaves from the Sahastradhara helipad in Dehradun, follows the Alaknanda country north and lands at Badrinath, a short ride from the temple. You have time for darshan, a dip at the Tapt Kund, rituals at Brahma Kapal and a visit to Mana village before the return flight in the afternoon.
Badrinath is one of the four dhams of the whole country, not only of Uttarakhand, and many families feel a single visit in a lifetime is essential. Our charter guests tend to fall into a few groups: parents in their seventies or eighties for whom a winding 10-hour drive is genuinely risky; professionals who can spare one day but not five; NRI families fitting the shrine between weddings and other commitments in India; and pilgrims who have already done Kedarnath or the western dhams and want to complete the circuit quickly.
If none of these fits and you have four or five days, the road is a rewarding journey in its own right, passing all five confluences of the Panch Prayag and the town of Joshimath. Our Badrinath yatra by car page explains that option, and a quick side trip to Auli above Joshimath is easy to add.

Timings depend on the slot allotted for your charter and on the weather, so treat the plan below as a guide rather than a fixed timetable.
Report at the Sahastradhara helipad with photo ID and your yatra registration. Bags are weighed, a short briefing follows, and you take off over the Doon valley towards the high Himalaya. After landing at Badrinath, a vehicle takes you towards the temple.
Bathe in the warm waters of the Tapt Kund on the bank of the Alaknanda, then join the queue for darshan of Badri Narayan. Those who wish can perform pind daan for ancestors at Brahma Kapal nearby. Prasad and offerings are available from stalls around the temple steps.
Drive to Mana, often called the first village of India before the Tibet border. Visit Vyas Gufa, where Ved Vyas is believed to have composed the Mahabharata, Ganesh Gufa and the stone slab of Bhim Pul across the rushing Saraswati. A simple lunch in Mana or Badrinath follows.
Return to the helipad for the flight back to Dehradun. You land at Sahastradhara in the late afternoon or evening, with time for a drive to Haridwar, Rishikesh or Jolly Grant airport.
Sikh pilgrims and trekkers sometimes pair Badrinath with Hemkund Sahib. The Govindghat to Ghangaria helicopter costs about ₹4,500 one way (estimate, weather dependent), but this is a separate, multi-day trip. See Hemkund Sahib helicopter price and Char Dham with Hemkund Sahib.
Planning Kedarnath too? The Ek Dham helicopter page compares single-shrine charters, and the Char Dham helicopter booking covers all four.
No shuttle like Kedarnath's is sold on IRCTC for Badrinath. Flights to Badrinath are private charters, which we arrange from Dehradun.
A same-day charter from Dehradun starts at about ₹95,000 per person (2027 estimate). The final price depends on date, aircraft and group size.
