Delhi – Kedarnath – Delhi
- Airport or station pick-up
- Night at Kedarnath
- Back in Delhi for the evening flight
From the Arabian Sea to the Mandakini glacier valley in under a week. Fly or ride the overnight train to Delhi, and our driver takes it from there to the foot of the Kedarnath trek and back.
For many Mumbai families the hardest part of a Kedarnath trip is not the trek but the calendar. Office leave, school terms and festival season all compete, and the temple is open only from late April or May to November. The good news is that the whole yatra fits comfortably into six or seven days if you combine a quick flight or an overnight train with a well-timed road plan.
Mumbai is roughly 1,400 km from Delhi by rail and about two hours by air, and there is no sensible way to reach Kedarnath without passing through Delhi, Dehradun or Haridwar. We sell the part that starts there: a 4-night, 5-day land package from Delhi with your own car, hotels at Haridwar and Guptkashi, a night at Kedarnath, and a stop at Srinagar Garhwal on the way back. You book your flight or train to suit your budget, and we meet you at the airport or station.
| Option | Approx. journey time | Arrive at | Works best when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flight Mumbai – Delhi | About 2 hours | Delhi airport; we pick up | Leave is short; you want to start the same day |
| Flight Mumbai – Dehradun | Direct or one-stop, varies by season | Jolly Grant airport | You want to skip the Delhi–Haridwar drive |
| Overnight train to Delhi | About 16–22 hours | Any Delhi station; we pick up | Budget matters and you enjoy rail travel |
The train is the most economical option for larger families, and several fast overnight services link Mumbai with Delhi; book as soon as the reservation window opens, because yatra-season trains fill quickly. Flying gives you an extra day for Kedarnath. If you fly into Dehradun, switch to our Haridwar-start Kedarnath package, which is a day shorter and starts from ₹8,500. More on rail routes in our Char Dham by train guide, and on flying in our by air guide.
Prices cover everything from Delhi pick-up to Delhi drop. Your Mumbai–Delhi tickets are booked separately, so you can use your own airline miles or rail concession.

Day 1 assumes a morning arrival in Delhi. If your flight or train lands late, we suggest a night in Delhi or Haridwar first; tell us and we will adjust.
Your driver meets you outside arrivals at Delhi airport or at the station with a name board. Head north out of the city on the Meerut highway, with a stop for lunch on the way. By late afternoon you are in Haridwar, in time to watch the lamps float down the Ganga at Har Ki Pauri.
The hills begin just past Rishikesh. The road traces the Ganga and then the Alaknanda through Devprayag and Srinagar Garhwal before turning up the Mandakini at Rudraprayag. Guptkashi is quieter than anything in Mumbai: enjoy an early dinner and lay out warm clothes for the morning.
Drive to Sonprayag before sunrise and take the shared jeep to Gaurikund. The trail rises about 1,600 m over 16 km, so walk slowly, sip water and take ponies or a palki if anyone struggles. By late afternoon the temple comes into view; check in and attend the sandhya aarti.
Pre-dawn darshan, a short walk to Bhairavnath, then breakfast and the long walk down. Your car is waiting at Sonprayag in the early afternoon. Driving on to Srinagar Garhwal or Rudraprayag shortens the next day's run to Delhi.
Leave early to descend through Devprayag and Rishikesh before the midday traffic. After lunch near Haridwar the road flattens out for the run to Delhi. Book your Mumbai flight or train for late evening, or keep a night in Delhi as a buffer.
Rooms at Kedarnath are basic in every category, typically ₹2,500–6,000 per night, and go quickly. See the Kedarnath hotel guide for what to expect.
Roughly 1,400 km from Mumbai to Delhi by rail, then about 460 km by road from Delhi to Sonprayag, plus the 5 km jeep and 16 km trek. Most people fly or take a train to Delhi and continue by road.
Six to seven days in total: one for travel to Delhi (less by air), five for the land package, and ideally a spare day.
The land package from Delhi starts at about ₹10,500 per person (budget, group of four). Add your Mumbai–Delhi flights or train fares, which you book yourself.
Some long-distance trains connect the Mumbai region with Haridwar or Dehradun, but timings change. Most travellers find a fast train to Delhi plus our road pick-up quicker.
Flights to Dehradun's Jolly Grant airport run direct or with one stop depending on the season. From there, our Haridwar package saves you a day.
