From the lanes of Ulhasnagar to the four Himalayan shrines: catch a train at Kalyan or a flight from Mumbai to Delhi, and our driver takes over from there for twelve days on the road.
Ulhasnagar to the Char Dham: how the journey works
Ulhasnagar sits right beside Kalyan Junction, one of the busiest railway hubs on the Central line, and that makes the first leg of a Char Dham pilgrimage simpler than many people expect. Delhi is roughly 1,400 km away. Long-distance trains from Kalyan and from the Mumbai terminals reach Delhi overnight or in a little under a day, and flights from Mumbai airport take about two hours.
We plan the Himalayan part. Our road package starts and ends in Delhi, so your tickets only need to bring you to the capital. On day 1 a private vehicle with a hill driver picks you up and drives you to Haridwar; from there the classic clockwise circuit runs through Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath before bringing you back to Delhi for your journey home.
Many enquiries from Ulhasnagar come from extended families and community groups. A party of ten or twelve fits one Tempo Traveller, usually the most economical way to travel.

Practical tips for travellers from Ulhasnagar
Pack for cold. Coming from the humid Konkan coast, the mountain chill surprises most people. Mornings at Kedarnath and Badrinath are near freezing even in June. See our packing list.
Food. Hotels on the route serve simple North Indian vegetarian meals. If your family prefers food without onion and garlic, mention it when booking; it can be requested, though not every kitchen manages it.
Register early. The yatra registration is free and mandatory. Every traveller needs it, children included. Our registration guide walks through the steps.
Avoid the monsoon. July and August bring landslides in Garhwal. May–June or the weeks after mid-September are better; check the best time to visit.

Char Dham Yatra from Ulhasnagar: FAQ
How far is Ulhasnagar from the Char Dham?
Ulhasnagar to Delhi is roughly 1,400 km, Delhi to Haridwar another 230 km, and the circuit of all four shrines about 1,250 km from Haridwar. Most of the travel from home is by train or flight; the mountain part is by road.
Which is the best way to reach Delhi from Ulhasnagar?
Trains from Kalyan Junction are the most convenient for families with luggage and take between 16 and 24 hours. Flying from Mumbai is faster, about two hours, plus the road time to the airport.
What is the cost of the Char Dham Yatra from Ulhasnagar?
The land package from Delhi starts at about ₹24,500 per person for four people in budget hotels, ₹35,500 in deluxe and ₹53,500 in luxury. Train or air fare from Ulhasnagar is extra. These are 2027 estimates.
Can a large group from Ulhasnagar travel together?
Yes. Groups of 10–12 travel in a Tempo Traveller, which brings the budget cost from Haridwar to around ₹19,500 per person. Bigger groups can use two vehicles or a bus on request.
How many days should we take off work?
Plan about 14 days door to door: one day to reach Delhi, the 12-day yatra, and one day back. By flying both ways you can trim a day.
Are Kedarnath helicopter tickets part of the package?
No. Shuttle tickets from Phata, Sersi and Guptkashi are sold only on the IRCTC HeliYatra portal after registration. We help you prepare and plan the days around your ticket. Avoid websites that claim to sell guaranteed tickets.
When will the 2027 yatra open?
Gangotri and Yamunotri usually open on Akshaya Tritiya in late April or early May; the Kedarnath and Badrinath dates are announced earlier in the year. Watch our opening dates page.
