Badrinath Yatra Package from Mumbai 2027

Getting from Mumbai to Badrinath

Mumbai and Badrinath are close to 1,900 km apart by road, and nobody sensible drives it. The practical plan is to cover the long plains distance quickly, by air or train, and keep your energy for the mountains. You reach Delhi (about 1,400 km from Mumbai) or Dehradun, and from there our private vehicle takes over for the hill journey.

Most Mumbai families fly to Delhi on the morning of day 1 and are met at the airport. Others prefer the comfort of an overnight train to Delhi, or a flight to Dehradun's Jolly Grant airport, which puts you just 35 km from Haridwar and lets you join our shorter Badrinath package from Haridwar. Either way, your land arrangements start the moment you arrive.

Flights are quickest, and booking two to three months ahead keeps fares reasonable in May and June. Trains suit those who like to travel with heavy bags or older parents who prefer a lower berth to a crowded airport. We do not book flights or trains, but we time your pick-up to whatever you choose.

Book a return flight from Delhi for the evening of day 5, or the next morning. Hill roads can run a few hours late, and a missed flight costs more than a hotel night.

Today the plains end at Rishikesh and the hill road begins. You follow the river through Devprayag and Rudraprayag, then the Alaknanda through Karnaprayag and Nandprayag. Mumbaikars used to the ghats will find the bends familiar but the drops much deeper. You reach Joshimath at dusk.

Tips for pilgrims from Mumbai

  • Mumbai has no real winter. Badrinath can be near 0°C at night in May and October, so buy a proper jacket, thermals and woollen socks before you fly.
  • Carry warm layers in your cabin bag; checked bags may be in the boot when the temperature drops.
  • Avoid the July–August monsoon in the hills; it overlaps with Mumbai's rains and flights get disrupted too. See best time to visit.
  • Register on the Uttarakhand portal well before your flight; our registration guide shows how.
  • Mobile data is patchy above Joshimath. Tell family back home your night stops in advance.
  • Check our things to carry list.

Since the flight is the biggest cost, many Mumbai families add a second shrine. Compare the Kedarnath package from Mumbai, the Do Dham option above, or the full Char Dham Yatra from Mumbai.
