From the Sabarmati to the Mandakini: how Ahmedabad pilgrims reach Haridwar or Delhi, and the Kedarnath road-and-trek trip we run from there, with honest 2027 price estimates.
Ahmedabad is roughly 1,150 km from Haridwar and about 950 km from Delhi, too far for a sensible road pick-up. Gujarat pilgrims therefore travel to Haridwar, Dehradun or Delhi on their own ticket, and our land package begins there. The good news is that all three are well connected to Ahmedabad.

From Somnath to Kedarnath: a Jyotirlinga journey
Gujarat is home to two of the twelve Jyotirlingas, Somnath on the Saurashtra coast and Nageshwar near Dwarka, and many Ahmedabad families have already visited both. Kedarnath completes a powerful contrast: Somnath stands beside the sea, Kedarnath at 3,583 m among glaciers, at the head of the Mandakini valley. For devotees working through the twelve shrines, it is often the one saved for last because it demands the most effort.
That effort is part of its meaning. The 16 km walk from Gaurikund, the cold night beside the temple and the dawn darshan stay with pilgrims long after the trip. If the climb worries you, the Kedarnath trekking tour page describes each stage of the trail in detail, and the helicopter booking guide explains the flying alternative.
What the whole trip looks like from Ahmedabad
Counting your travel days, a Kedarnath yatra from Ahmedabad takes about a week. A typical plan for a family going by train:
When
What happens
Travel day
Board the train from Ahmedabad to Haridwar
Day 1
Arrive Haridwar; our driver collects you and heads to Guptkashi
Day 2
Trek or ride to Kedarnath; night near the temple
Day 3
Darshan, descent, back to Guptkashi
Day 4
Drive to Haridwar; evening train home
Return day
Arrive Ahmedabad
If your train reaches Haridwar late in the day, add a night in Haridwar before day 1; it costs little and keeps the first mountain drive safe. Flyers into Dehradun before noon can usually go straight to Guptkashi.

Tips for travellers from Gujarat
Food: meals on the route are vegetarian. Jain food without onion and garlic can be requested; most hotels manage it, though choice is limited at Kedarnath.
Cold: Ahmedabad's warmth does not prepare you for 3,583 m. Pack thermals, a warm jacket, gloves and woollen socks even in June.
Pace: walk slowly and rest often; breathlessness at altitude is normal at first.
Documents: carry photo ID and the free registration QR code for each traveller.
Season: go in May–June or mid-September to October; avoid the July–August monsoon.
