The four Himalayan dhams of Uttarakhand and the ice lingam of Amarnath in Kashmir, planned as one 16-day journey with the timing worked out around two very different seasons.
The Char Dham and Amarnath are both Himalayan pilgrimages, but their calendars barely overlap. The Uttarakhand temples open in late April or May and stay open until November. The Amarnath yatra in Kashmir runs for a short window of roughly six to eight weeks, usually from late June or early July into August, when the cave and its natural ice lingam can be reached safely.
That makes the order of travel the most important decision. Our plan completes the Char Dham Yatra first, in June, before the Uttarakhand monsoon sets in, and then flies to Srinagar for Amarnath once its yatra has opened. The reverse also works for some groups: Amarnath in July, a break at home through the rains, and the Char Dham in September or October. We help you choose based on the announced Amarnath dates.

Getting the timing right
Watch for the Amarnath yatra dates, which are announced in spring, and the Char Dham opening dates.
June is the sweet spot for the Uttarakhand part; July rains bring landslides on the Char Dham roads.
Keep one spare day in case the Amarnath yatra is paused for weather.
If you prefer to split the trips, do Amarnath in July and the Char Dham in September or October.
Health
Both pilgrimages involve long walks above 3,500 m. Train with daily walks for six weeks, carry your medicines and see a doctor before applying for the Amarnath medical certificate. Elderly pilgrims can use ponies or palkis, and the Kedarnath shuttle from the IRCTC portal shortens one trek considerably.
Not sure the full combination is right for you? The Kedarnath yatra and the Do Dham package are shorter Uttarakhand options that pair easily with Amarnath, and the Char Dham with Vaishno Devi tour suits families who prefer a gentler climb in Jammu.

Char Dham with Amarnath: FAQ
Can I do Char Dham and Amarnath in one trip?
Yes, in about 16 days, if you do the Char Dham in June and reach Kashmir after the Amarnath yatra opens. Timing depends on the Amarnath dates announced each year.
What is the cost of Char Dham with Amarnath?
From about ₹44,500 per person for a group of four on budget hotels, as a land package from Delhi. Flights, helicopters and ponies are extra. This is a 2027 estimate.
Which Amarnath route does the package use?
The Baltal route, which is shorter and allows a same-day return. The longer Pahalgam route can be arranged on request with extra days.
Do I need separate registrations?
Yes. The Char Dham registration is free on the Uttarakhand portal or Tourist Care Uttarakhand app. Amarnath has its own registration with a medical certificate.
Is it safe to do the Char Dham in July?
July and August bring monsoon landslides to Uttarakhand. That is why we schedule the Char Dham before the rains and Amarnath afterwards, or split the trip.
Do you book helicopters for Kedarnath and Amarnath?
Kedarnath shuttle tickets are sold only on IRCTC HeliYatra; Amarnath helicopter seats are sold through the official yatra channels. We guide you through both and plan around your bookings.
Can seniors join this package?
Yes, with ponies, palkis or helicopters and a doctor's clearance. The Amarnath medical certificate is required regardless of age.
