Pune to the Himalaya is a long way by land but a short hop by air. Choose Dehradun or Delhi as your landing point, and the four dhams are covered by road with one driver and one team.
Pune lies on the Deccan, roughly 1,450 km from Delhi by rail. The train takes the better part of a day and a night, so most Pune families, whether tech professionals with tight leave or retired couples from Kothrud and Aundh, fly at least one way. The real question is where to land.
Land at Dehradun and you can be on the road to Barkot within an hour, finishing the yatra in 9 nights and 10 days with our Dehradun package. Land at Delhi and you add two road days, one at each end, but gain far more flight choices; that is the Delhi package, 11 nights and 12 days. Both cover Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath in the same order with the same hotels.

Practical advice for Pune travellers
Train like a trekker
Pune's hills are a gift. A few weekend hikes on Sinhagad or Parvati hill in the month before departure prepare your legs for Yamunotri and Kedarnath far better than gym time alone. Older travellers should get a medical check-up and consider a pony or the IRCTC helicopter.
Kedarnath shuttle tickets are sold only on IRCTC HeliYatra. Read our IRCTC guide and avoid fake sites.
Carry photo ID and the registration QR code for every traveller.
Season and packing
May–June and mid-September to October are best; see best time to visit. Pack thermals, a warm jacket and rain gear; our packing list covers the details.

Char Dham Yatra from Pune: FAQ
What is the Char Dham Yatra cost from Pune?
From about ₹21,500 per person from Dehradun, or ₹24,500 from Delhi, for four travellers on budget hotels. Flights from Pune are extra. These are 2027 estimates.
Is it better to fly to Dehradun or Delhi from Pune?
Dehradun saves two road days; Delhi offers more direct flights and often lower fares. Compare total cost and leave days.
How many days does the yatra take from Pune?
About 10 days if you fly to Dehradun both ways, 12 days via Delhi, and about 14 by train.
Can seniors from Pune manage the treks?
Yes, using ponies, palkis or pithoos at Yamunotri and Kedarnath, or the IRCTC helicopter shuttle for Kedarnath. Gangotri and Badrinath are by road.
Do you sell Kedarnath helicopter tickets?
No. Shuttle seats can only be bought on the IRCTC HeliYatra portal once you have registered. We help you prepare and plan around your booked slot.
Budget plans use clean, simple hotels on twin or triple sharing; Deluxe and Luxury use the better-rated properties in each town where they exist. At Kedarnath every category stays in basic guest houses or tents, because that is all the town offers.
