Char Dham Yatra Package from Bengaluru 2027

Why Bengaluru pilgrims usually fly in

By rail, Bengaluru to Delhi is a journey of well over a day and a half, and the trip home is just as long. Add twelve days in the mountains and the holiday stretches past two weeks. That is why most families from Bengaluru, Mysuru and the surrounding towns fly north and spend their leave in Uttarakhand rather than on a train.

There are two good landing points. Dehradun (Jolly Grant) is about 35 km from Haridwar and Rishikesh, so you can begin the Char Dham tour from Dehradun the moment you land, in 9 nights and 10 days. Delhi has many more flights and often lower fares; from there the Delhi package takes 11 nights and 12 days because of the drive to and from Haridwar.

Either way, everything after landing is handled by one team: hotels, a private vehicle with a driver who knows the hill roads, help with registration, and someone to call at any hour during the season.

An easy morning drive takes you over a forested ridge to the Bhagirathi river. Uttarkashi's Kashi Vishwanath temple is a short walk from most hotels. Rest well, as the next day starts early.

  4. Day
    4

    Gangotri

100 km each wayFull dayNight: Uttarkashi

    Kedarnath trek

    30 km drive + 16 km trek7–9 hoursNight: Kedarnath

Reach Sonprayag early, take the shared jeep to Gaurikund and start the 16 km climb. The trail is paved, with shelters and food stalls, but it is long and the air thins near the top. Pilgrims with IRCTC shuttle tickets fly from Phata, Sersi or Guptkashi instead.

  10. Day
    10

    Back to Dehradun airport

About 150 km5–6 hoursNight: Tour ends

Drive past Devprayag and Rishikesh to Jolly Grant airport for your flight to Bengaluru. If your flight leaves early, we suggest an extra night in Rishikesh rather than a pre-dawn drive on mountain roads.

Flying via Delhi instead? Add one day at each end: Delhi to Haridwar on Day 1 and Haridwar to Delhi on the last day. The route in the mountains stays the same.

Advice for travellers from Bengaluru

Altitude and fitness

Bengaluru sits at about 900 m, but Kedarnath is at 3,583 m. Start walking 4–5 km a day a month before travel, and do not rush the trek. Elders and anyone with heart or lung conditions should consult a doctor; for them a pony, palki or the IRCTC helicopter shuttle is the better choice.

Food and language

Meals in the hills are North Indian: roti, dal, rice and sabzi. Idli and dosa appear in Haridwar and Rishikesh, rarely higher up, so pack a few ready-to-eat items. Drivers speak Hindi and basic English.

Paperwork and timing

  • Register each traveller free of charge before you fly; see the registration guide.
  • Kedarnath shuttle tickets are sold only on IRCTC HeliYatra. Avoid sites offering them elsewhere.
  • Mid-September to October avoids the summer rush; check best time to visit.
  • Pack woollens and rain gear; our packing list helps.

Char Dham Yatra from Bengaluru: FAQ

What is the cheapest way to do the Char Dham Yatra from Bengaluru?

Train to Delhi and the budget road package from Delhi at about ₹24,500 per person is the lowest-cost route, but it adds three to four days of train travel. Flying to Dehradun and joining the 9N/10D tour from ₹21,500 often costs little more overall once you count the saved days.

Is there a direct flight from Bengaluru to Dehradun?

Direct flights operate on some days and seasons; at other times you connect via Delhi or another hub. Check current schedules before booking, and tell us your arrival time.

How many days of leave do I need?

About 10 days if you fly to Dehradun both ways, or 12 if you fly via Delhi. Train travel adds roughly four more days.

Can my parents do the yatra?

Yes. Two of the four shrines, Gangotri and Badrinath, need no walking at all. For Yamunotri and Kedarnath they can use a pony, palki or the IRCTC helicopter shuttle. Consult a doctor first.

Is helicopter Char Dham possible from Bengaluru?

Yes. Fly to Dehradun and join the Char Dham helicopter yatra from Dehradun, a 5N/6D charter from about ₹2,15,000 per person.

Will South Indian food be available?

Mostly in Haridwar and Rishikesh. Mountain hotels serve North Indian vegetarian meals; we can ask for plain rice and curd at many stops.

When is the best time to travel from Bengaluru?

May–June and mid-September to October. Avoid July–August because of monsoon landslides. Watch the opening dates for 2027.
