Gangotri Yamunotri Yatra Package from Chennai 2027

From the Bay of Bengal to the source of the Ganga

In many Tamil homes, a sealed pot of Gangajal is a treasured possession, often brought back from Kashi or Haridwar. Gangotri, at 3,100 m in the Uttarkashi hills, is where the Ganga is worshipped closest to her glacier source, and Yamunotri, at 3,293 m, is where the Yamuna begins her journey. Visiting both completes the western half of the Char Dham Yatra, and many Chennai families choose it as a first Himalayan pilgrimage because it involves only one short walk.

Chennai is around 2,200 km from Delhi, so the practical approach is to fly north and begin the road tour in Haridwar. If you prefer the train, Chennai to Delhi takes about a day and a half, and we can start from Delhi instead.

How to get from Chennai to Haridwar

  1. Fly to Delhi, then road to Haridwar. Nonstop flights take about 2 hours 45 minutes. We can collect you at Delhi airport and drive the 230 km to Haridwar; this becomes the 6-night Delhi plan.
  2. Fly to Dehradun. Flights from Chennai to Jolly Grant usually connect through another city. Haridwar is just 35 km from the airport, so the 5-night plan starts here.
  3. Take the train. Chennai to Delhi takes roughly 28–36 hours; from Delhi, connect to Haridwar by train or join our road tour from Delhi.
With a long journey behind you, plan a rest night in Haridwar before day 1. A fresh start makes the mountain drive to Barkot much more pleasant, especially for elders.
