Fly to Dehradun, drive the loop
- Airport pick-up and drop
- Two nights Guptkashi
- Kedarnath and Badrinath stays
For Mumbai, the quickest way to Kedarnath and Badrinath is a morning flight north and a car waiting at the arrival gate. Here is how to make a week of leave cover both shrines.
Mumbaikars tend to count leave in days, not weeks. The good news is that Kedarnath and Badrinath fit inside a single working week plus two weekends, as long as you fly. A morning flight puts you in Dehradun or Delhi before lunch, and from Dehradun's Jolly Grant airport the mountain road begins almost immediately.
We offer two land packages for Mumbai pilgrims. If you fly to Dehradun, the 5N/6D plan starts at the airport and ends there or at Haridwar station. If you fly or take the train to Delhi, the 6N/7D plan adds the Delhi–Haridwar drive at each end. Flights and trains are booked by you, so you keep full control of fares and timings. For all four shrines, see the Char Dham from Mumbai.
| Route | Approx. travel time | Join which package |
|---|---|---|
| Flight Mumbai – Dehradun (direct or one stop) | 2.5–5 hours, by schedule | 5N/6D from Dehradun/Haridwar |
| Flight Mumbai – Delhi | About 2 hours | 6N/7D from Delhi |
| Overnight train Mumbai – Delhi | About 16–22 hours | 6N/7D from Delhi |
Flying to Dehradun saves a full day of driving and is our first suggestion for Mumbai travellers with limited leave. If Dehradun fares are high, flying to Delhi is a good fallback. The train suits families who enjoy rail journeys or want to keep costs low. Our Char Dham by air and by train guides explain both in more detail.
| Start point | Duration | Budget | Deluxe | Luxury |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dehradun airport / Haridwar | 5N / 6D | ₹13,500 | ₹19,500 | ₹29,500 |
| Delhi | 6N / 7D | ₹15,500 | ₹22,000 | ₹33,000 |

This plan assumes a morning arrival at Jolly Grant. If your flight lands after about 11 am, spend the first night in Rishikesh and start the loop the next morning.
Your driver meets you outside arrivals and the car heads straight for Rishikesh, skirting the town and entering the Ganga valley. Stop at Devprayag to see the rivers merge and at Rudraprayag for a late lunch. You reach Guptkashi in the evening, already more than 1,000 m higher than the airport.
An early drive to Sonprayag, a registration check and the jeep ride to Gaurikund. City legs used to Mumbai's flat streets will feel the climb, so pace yourself and consider a pony one way. IRCTC shuttle ticket holders fly from Phata, Sersi or Guptkashi instead. Overnight near the temple.
Take darshan as early as possible, then visit Bhairavnath and the Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi. Descend to Gaurikund and Sonprayag, where your car waits. A hot dinner at Guptkashi follows.
From Guptkashi the road climbs to Ukhimath and through the forests near Chopta before dropping to the Alaknanda. After Joshimath the gorge narrows and the peaks close in. At Badrinath, bathe in the Tapt Kund and join the evening aarti.
Morning darshan of Badri Narayan, then Mana village for Vyas Gufa, Ganesh Gufa and Bhim Pul. The afternoon drive follows the Alaknanda through Nandprayag and Karnaprayag. Overnight at Rudraprayag or Srinagar.
Drive down through Devprayag and Rishikesh to Jolly Grant for an evening flight, or to Haridwar station. Choose a flight after about 5 pm to allow for traffic and road work, or book the next morning's flight for complete peace of mind.
Travellers used to Mumbai city hotels should adjust expectations in the hills. Guptkashi and Badrinath have comfortable, clean rooms with hot water, and the Deluxe and Luxury categories add better views and service. Kedarnath is different: every category there means simple guest houses, tents or dormitories, because space at 3,583 m is limited and everything is carried up by mule or helicopter. Rooms there cost ₹2,500–6,000 a night in season, and one night is all you need. Read more about Kedarnath hotels and Badrinath hotels before choosing a category.
By road, fly to Dehradun and join our 5N/6D loop. Fastest of all is the Do Dham helicopter charter from Dehradun, which covers both shrines in 1 night and 2 days.
Six days on the ground plus travel. With a morning flight in and an evening flight out, a Saturday-to-Thursday trip is realistic.
No. The package covers everything from arrival in Dehradun or Delhi. Booking your own flights lets you use offers and choose timings.
Yes, as long as someone accompanies elders. We can collect different members from different flights on day 1, though everyone must start the hill drive together.
The route is the same; only the travel advice differs. Pune pilgrims can see Do Dham from Pune.
Many do, with care. Spend the first night at Guptkashi, use a pony or palki for the climb, or try for IRCTC shuttle tickets. Anyone with heart, lung or blood-pressure conditions should consult a doctor before booking flights.
Yes. Add a night in Rishikesh at the end for the Triveni Ghat aarti and a relaxed morning before your flight.
