Gangotri Yamunotri from Delhi
- Delhi airport pick-up
- Haridwar, Barkot, Uttarkashi stays
- Private car with hill driver
A week away from the office, two sacred rivers at their source. Fly from Bengaluru to Delhi in the morning and be in Haridwar by evening; we handle every mile after that.
Bengaluru is more than 2,000 km from the Garhwal Himalaya, but it is also one of the best-connected cities in the country by air. A morning flight puts you in Delhi before lunch, and from there Yamunotri and Gangotri, the shrines of the Yamuna and the Ganga, are a six-night road journey away. That makes this the most practical Char Dham pair for working professionals, students home on holiday and families who cannot take two weeks off.
The trip needs very little trekking. Gangotri temple is reached by road, and Yamunotri is a 6 km walk each way from Janki Chatti, with ponies and palkis for those who prefer to ride. Night stops at Barkot and Uttarkashi are at moderate height, which makes acclimatisation easy for people coming from the Deccan plateau.
Here is how a Saturday-to-Saturday trip works if you fly both ways. It uses one weekend fully and five weekdays of leave, with the following Sunday free to recover at home.
| Day | What happens | Where you sleep |
|---|---|---|
| Saturday | Morning flight to Delhi, drive to Haridwar | Haridwar |
| Sunday | Drive to Barkot via Mussoorie | Barkot |
| Monday | Yamunotri darshan | Barkot |
| Tuesday | Drive to Uttarkashi | Uttarkashi |
| Wednesday | Gangotri darshan | Uttarkashi |
| Thursday | Drive to Haridwar | Haridwar |
| Friday | Drive to Delhi, evening flight home | Bengaluru |
Trains from Bengaluru to Delhi take well over 30 hours, so most travellers fly. If you prefer rail, read our Char Dham by train guide; flyers can check Char Dham by air.
These are land-tour prices per person for four travellers sharing one car and twin or triple rooms. Flights from Bengaluru are booked by you, which usually gets the best fare if you book early.

Our driver waits at the Delhi airport arrivals gate with your name. Leave the city on the Meerut expressway and continue past Roorkee to Haridwar. Check in, freshen up and, if time permits, watch the lamps float down the Ganga at Har Ki Pauri.
Drive via Dehradun to Mussoorie, the old hill station on the ridge, and down to the Yamuna at Naugaon. The last stretch to Barkot follows the river through terraced fields. Dinner and an early night.
Start before dawn for Janki Chatti. The 6 km climb follows the river through a deep gorge; take a pony if you would rather save your energy. At the shrine, cook rice in the scalding Surya Kund, pray at the Divya Shila and take darshan, then walk back down to the car.
A short, relaxed drive across to the Bhagirathi valley. Use the free afternoon to rest or explore Uttarkashi's market and its Kashi Vishwanath temple. Phone signal is better here than in Barkot, useful if you need to check in with work.
Drive past Maneri dam, the Gangnani hot spring and the cedar forests of Harsil to Gangotri. Offer prayers to Ma Ganga, see Bhagirath Shila and spend a quiet hour by the roaring river. Return to Uttarkashi in the evening.
Descend through Chamba with views of Tehri lake, then pass through Rishikesh, where you can stop at Ram Jhula. Reach Haridwar by late afternoon for a final evening by the Ganga.
Leave after breakfast and drive to Delhi airport. We time the departure so that you arrive comfortably before your evening flight to Bengaluru.
Rooms at Barkot cost roughly ₹1,500–4,500 a night and at Uttarkashi ₹1,800–5,500, depending on category. Details are on the Yamunotri hotels and Gangotri hotels pages.
More from Bengaluru: Kedarnath yatra, Do Dham and Teen Dham.
About five working days plus a weekend if you fly to Delhi and take the 6-night tour. Starting in Dehradun saves another day.
The land tour from Delhi is estimated from ₹14,500 per person for four travellers on budget hotels. Return flights from Bengaluru are extra.
Schedules change each season and many itineraries connect via Delhi. Check airlines when you book; if you land at Jolly Grant, we start the tour there.
Not reliably. Haridwar and Uttarkashi have reasonable signal, but Barkot, Janki Chatti and Gangotri can be patchy. Plan the trip as proper leave.
It is a steady 6 km climb, about two and a half to three hours up for most adults. Ponies and palkis are available at Janki Chatti.
Yes. This is the easiest pair of the Char Dham. Use a pony or palki at Yamunotri and keep warm clothes handy.
Choose the Char Dham Yatra from Bengaluru, about 11 nights from Delhi.
