Char Dham from Delhi
- Pick-up at Delhi station or airport
- All four dhams by private car
- Breakfast and dinner
An overnight train or a ninety-minute flight puts Ahmedabad pilgrims in Delhi, and from there a private vehicle carries your family to Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath.
Gujarat sends some of the largest pilgrim groups to Uttarakhand every summer, and Ahmedabad is where many of them set out. The four shrines lie roughly 1,150 km away as the road runs to Haridwar, and then another 1,250 km of mountain driving to complete the circuit. Splitting the journey sensibly is the key to a comfortable yatra.
The plan we recommend is simple. Reach Delhi by an overnight train from Ahmedabad Junction or a short flight from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. On Day 1 our driver collects you and the Char Dham Yatra from Delhi begins: Haridwar, the Yamuna and Bhagirathi valleys, Kedarnath and finally Badrinath, back in Delhi on Day 12.
Families from Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and nearby towns often travel with grandparents. The route lets elders reach Gangotri and Badrinath by car, while ponies, palkis and helicopter shuttles handle the two treks. If you prefer to compare all Gujarat options, see our Char Dham Yatra from Gujarat page.
| Route | Mode | Approx. time | Then join |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ahmedabad → Delhi | Overnight train | 13–16 hours | Delhi 11N/12D tour |
| Ahmedabad → Delhi | Flight | About 1.5 hours | Delhi 11N/12D tour |
| Ahmedabad → Dehradun | Flight (direct or one-stop, by season) | 2–5 hours | Dehradun 9N/10D tour |
| Ahmedabad → Haridwar | Train, often via Delhi | About a day | Haridwar 9N/10D tour |
Most families take the evening train and wake up in Delhi, which costs no hotel night and lets the yatra start the same morning. If a direct flight to Dehradun is running on your dates, the Dehradun package saves the two Delhi–Haridwar drives. Some travellers also drive their own car from Ahmedabad; we can then provide a hill driver from Haridwar, but a local vehicle is usually safer and simpler on mountain roads.
Land-tour prices per person, twin or triple sharing, four people sharing a vehicle. Train or flight from Ahmedabad is booked by you and is not part of the package.
| Starting point | Duration | Budget | Deluxe | Luxury |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Delhi (recommended for Ahmedabad) | 11N / 12D | ₹24,500 | ₹35,500 | ₹53,500 |
| Haridwar / Dehradun | 9N / 10D | ₹21,500 | ₹32,500 | ₹49,500 |
All prices are 2027 estimates. Your final quote depends on dates, hotel category and the size of your group.
Step off the overnight train or flight and meet your driver. The drive north crosses the sugarcane belt of western Uttar Pradesh and reaches Haridwar by mid-afternoon. In the evening, join thousands of devotees for the Ganga aarti at Har Ki Pauri.
Climb past Dehradun to the hill station of Mussoorie, then descend to the Yamuna valley. Lunch stops on this road are simple dhabas serving dal, rice and roti. Barkot is a small town with mountain air, and you sleep early tonight.
From Janki Chatti, walk or ride the 6 km path to the shrine of Goddess Yamuna at 3,293 m. Offer prayers at the Divya Shila, and dip a cloth bundle of rice into the boiling Surya Kund as prasad. Return to Barkot for the night.
A relaxed drive through forests and terraced villages brings you to Uttarkashi on the Bhagirathi. Visit the Kashi Vishwanath and Shakti temples in the evening. It is a good day to rest the knees after the trek.
Set off at dawn past the Gangnani hot spring and the Harsil valley, known for its deodar forest and apple orchards. Gangotri temple stands by the road, so elders need no pony here. Take a holy dip if you dare the icy water, and return to Uttarkashi.
A long but scenic crossing via Tehri lake and Srinagar brings you to the Mandakini valley. Break the drive with tea stops every couple of hours. Reach Guptkashi by evening and prepare a small bag for Kedarnath.
Drive to Sonprayag and take the shared jeep to Gaurikund. The 16 km path rises steadily to Kedarnath, with water points and rest shelters along the way. Pilgrims with IRCTC helicopter tickets fly up instead and meet the group at the top.
Early-morning darshan of the Kedarnath Jyotirlinga is the emotional peak of the yatra for many. See the Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi, then walk or ride down to Gaurikund. Your vehicle takes you back to Guptkashi.
Drive via Ukhimath and Chopta's forests to the Alaknanda valley, then climb through Joshimath. Badrinath sits between the Nar and Narayan ranges. Bathe in the Tapt Kund before the evening aarti.
Morning darshan of Badri Narayan, then Brahma Kapal for pind daan if your family wishes. Mana village, 3 km away, has Vyas Gufa, Ganesh Gufa and Bhim Pul. In the afternoon, descend to Rudraprayag.
Stop at Devprayag to see the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi join as the Ganga. Continue through Rishikesh, where you can walk on Ram Jhula if time allows. Night in Haridwar.
Drive back to Delhi for your evening train or flight to Ahmedabad. We plan the departure time around your ticket, keeping a buffer for highway traffic.
The road tour from Delhi starts at about ₹24,500 per person for four people on budget hotels, ₹35,500 for deluxe and ₹53,500 for luxury. Add your own Ahmedabad–Delhi train or air fare. All figures are 2027 estimates.
Plan 14 days door to door: one night on the train each way plus the 12-day yatra. Flying both ways brings it down to about 12 days.
Yes. If you reach Haridwar directly, the Haridwar package is 9 nights and 10 days from about ₹21,500 per person.
Yes. Groups of 10–12 travel in a Tempo Traveller, and larger groups in several vehicles or a bus. See Char Dham by bus for coach options.
Not usually. Meals are North Indian vegetarian. Haridwar and Rishikesh offer more variety than the hill towns, and hotels can make plain, less spicy food on request.
No company can legitimately sell shuttle seats outside IRCTC HeliYatra. We help you prepare and we fit the itinerary to your ticket date and time.
Choose the Do Dham Yatra from Ahmedabad for Kedarnath and Badrinath, or the Kedarnath package from Ahmedabad for a single shrine.
