Himalayan Heli and the Kedarnath shuttle

Himalayan Heli is one of the helicopter company names that pilgrims often come across while researching the Kedarnath flight. Like every operator on this route, it does not set its own schedule or sell seats directly to the public for the shuttle. The state allots helipads and sorties to the operators chosen for each season, and the tickets for all of them are released together on the IRCTC HeliYatra portal.

That has two practical consequences. First, you cannot reserve a seat by calling the operator or an agent: the only valid ticket is one booked in your own name on heliyatra.irctc.co.in. Second, which company flies from Guptkashi, Phata or Sersi can change from year to year, so check the operator name shown against each helipad when the 2027 bookings open rather than relying on what flew last season.

Booking a seat step by step on IRCTC HeliYatra

The process is the same whichever operator ends up on your ticket. The seats go quickly on the first day of each booking phase, so do the groundwork a few days early.

1. Register every traveller. Complete the free Uttarakhand yatra registration at registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in or on the Tourist Care Uttarakhand app. Note each registration number. Our registration guide explains the form.
2. Create your IRCTC HeliYatra login. Use a mobile number and email you can access during the trip, because updates come there.
3. Decide your helipad and date range. Have a first and second choice ready: Phata, Sersi or Guptkashi, and two or three possible dates.
4. Log in when the window opens. Enter the registration numbers, choose the helipad, date and slot, and pay online.
5. Download and print the ticket. Check that names and ID numbers match exactly what each traveller will carry.

Shuttle fares by helipad

Fares are the same for every operator flying from a given helipad, because they are fixed for the route rather than by the company. These were the 2026 figures as we listed them; the 2027 fares are announced before the season.

Sersi and Guptkashi figures are our estimates. Always go by the fare shown on IRCTC at the time of booking.

What happens on the day of your flight

First-time flyers are often unsure what to expect at a mountain helipad. The routine is straightforward, but it rewards being early and organised.

Before you leave the hotel

• Keep the printed ticket, registration QR code and the same photo ID used for booking in one pocket.
• Wear warm layers; Kedarnath is at 3,583 m and can be near freezing in the morning even in June.
• Pack only a small soft bag. The baggage limit is set by the operator and shown on your ticket; large suitcases stay at the hotel or in the car.
• Eat a light breakfast and take any regular medicines. Our packing list covers the rest.

At the helipad

Report well before the time printed on your ticket. Staff check documents, weigh passengers and bags, and give a short safety briefing. Groups are called in batches as each helicopter returns. Follow the ground crew exactly, keep your head down near the rotor and hold on to caps and shawls.

At Kedarnath

From the Kedarnath helipad it is a short walk to the temple. Darshan queues are the same for everyone. After darshan you can visit the Bhairavnath temple and the Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi, then return to the helipad in time for your return slot. If you would like to stay overnight, a one-way ticket plus a night at one of the basic Kedarnath stays is a good option.

Planning the rest of the journey around your ticket

A ticket is only one piece. You still need to reach the helipad the evening before, sleep nearby, and get home again. Most pilgrims combine the flight with a short road tour.

2027 estimates for a group of four on budget hotels. The Delhi helicopter package includes the shuttle only if IRCTC seats are allotted; otherwise it costs about ₹6,500 less.

Avoiding fake Himalayan Heli and Kedarnath ticket offers

Every season, fake websites and social media pages use operator names, including names like Himalayan Heli, to sell "guaranteed" Kedarnath tickets. They often show a logo, a mobile number and a discount. Payments go to personal accounts and no ticket ever arrives.

• Book only on heliyatra.irctc.co.in and check the address bar before paying.
• Ignore anyone who asks for UPI payment to a personal number for a shuttle seat.
• A genuine ticket carries your registration number and ID details.
